»Calum«

"Can I call, wake you up on a Sunday."

I had lied. For once in my life I had started to lie to my friends - to Ashton directly. They had no clue, I didn't turn down bed shopping to go home and Skype Beth.

Although I would've liked to spend time with my friends I had an important quest on my hands. I checked over my attire once again in the bathroom mirror, I wanted to look casual but also like I'd put thought into my clothes. My grey jumper had long sleeves that covered my palms. It was going to be a cold night so it would keep me warm.

I had on my tidiest pair of skinny jeans, they had no rips in the knees - unlike all my other pairs. I flattened my dark hair once again before running downstairs. It was just on 6:20pm, I didn't want to be late.

I lied to my Mum too, just as I'd reached the front door she'd stopped me to ask where I was headed. "Just to a friend's house. If I'm not back by ten I'll probably be at theirs for the night." I shot her my most innocent smile that I could manage.

"Who is this friend of yours?" Mum asked with a skeptical look.
I put my hand on the doorknob, "Just Brandon." Again, another lie. I couldn't go if Mum knew it was a girl's house I was in fact going to. Brandon wasn't even a person, I'd just made up a name in replacement of Beth's. Never had I lied so much in one night.

My Mum smiled, letting me know that she believed me. "Have fun, but stay out of trouble Calum."

With another deceptive smile and assurance for Mum I was free to go. I rushed out into the front garden, plucking a white rose from one of Mum's bushes as I ran. It was now 6:26pm, meaning I had only four minutes to get to her house. After much pestering and a little begging she had agreed to let me take her on a date.

She had given me a glare and told me not to be late. I didn't want to be late either, she'd given me one chance and I didn't want to disappoint her. My converse pressed against the tarmac as I ran, pushing myself further away from home and closer to Beth.

I looked at each mailbox on the street, until I came a across a small white box with the number four on it. I stopped to take a brief look up at the house. I could see on the second story a window open, white curtains blew in and out with the wind. Catching a glimpse of Beth's golden ringlets I knew that was her room.

I jogged up to her front door with my heart in my hand, or in this case; a rose. I couldn't help but feel nervous - wiping my hands on my jeans absent mindedly. I lifted my hand up to knock, just as my hand hit the wood the door swung inwards.

My breath hitched at the angel in front of me. Beth stood in a simple white dress with pink flowers printed all over it. She had this cute little flower crown intwined with her locks. Her emerald eyes twinkled in a innocent manner. God, she is beautiful.

I held out the flower for her, her small hand brushed against mine momentarily as she took it from me. She'd accepted my heart, whether she knew it or not.

Beth gave me a small smile. "Thank you." She twirled the rose in her hands as we stood in the doorway. "Come in, I'll just go and put this in some water."

I followed her around the house until we reached the kitchen, two men sat on stools at the bench. Beth walked around the bench and pulled a simple vase out of the kitchen cupboard. I stood there quietly as she filled the vase with water.

One of the two men looked up from his book to notice me there. He had straight golden brown hair and honey brown eyes. The other man had wavy brown locks with ice blue eyes. Neither of them held any resemblance to Beth.
