Glynda steps onto the stage and approaches Cardin from behind who was clutching his ribs. "And that's the match."

"Lucky shot." Cardin muttered before collapsing shortly after.

"Well done, Miss Nikos. You should have no problem qualifying for the tournament." Glynda, her tone carrying a note of approval.

Pyrrha nodded respectfully, though her eyes briefly flickered with concern as she glanced at Cardin, who was now being helped off the stage by his team despite his earlier bravado.

Glynda tapping on her Scroll. "Alright, now I know that's a tough act to follow, but we have time for one more sparring match." Glynda looks around at the observing students. "Any volunteers? Ms. Belladonna?" Blake slams her book shut and stares at Glynda with wide-eyes. "You've been rather docile for the past few classes. Why don't you-

Mercury stands up raising his hand. "I'll do it."

Glynda was interrupted mid-sentence, her eyes narrowing slightly as she shifted her gaze to Mercury. "Very well, Mr. Black. Who would you like to spar against?"

Mercury smirked as he stretched his arms lazily, glancing around the room with an air of confidence. "How about... you." Mercury announced, pointing his finger at Y/n who was clearly lost in thought.

Glynda's eyebrows arched in surprise at Mercury's challenge. She glanced over at Y/n, who was still recovering from his confrontation with Valerie.

"Mr. Rose?" Glynda's voice held a note of concern as she addressed him. "Are you up for this?"

Y/n blinked, coming back to the present. "I'm sorry, what? I was thinking about something."

Glynda repeated the challenge, her tone softer but firm. "Mr. Black has volunteered to spar with you. Are you up for it?"

Y/n rubbed his temple, trying to shake off the lingering frustration from his earlier encounter. He glanced over at Mercury, whose smirk was frustrating. "Is this because I hurt your feelings in the bookstore?"

Mercury's smirk widened. "Could be. Or maybe I just want to see if you're more than just talk."

Y/n's eyes narrowed as he stood up, his earlier exhaustion momentarily forgotten. "Alright, let's get this over with."

Glynda nodded, stepping back to give them space as they stepped onto the stage. "Remember, this is a sparring match. Keep it clean and controlled."

Glynda raised her hand, signaling the start of the match. "Begin."

Mercury moved first, darting towards Y/n with blinding speed. He aimed a quick, precise kick at Y/n's midsection. Y/n reacted instinctively, blocking the strike with his forearm and sidestepping Mercury's follow-up punch.

"You're legs, metal prosthetics." Y/n deduced, rubbing his forearm before shoving his hand in his coat and removing a pair of gloves with a metal circle in the middle of them.

Mercury tried to catch Y/n off guard with a low sweep aimed at his legs, but Y/n leaped over it effortlessly, landing with a solid thud. Adjusting the gloves on his hand, Y/n glared at Mercury before the metal circles expanded covering the gloves in a metallic sheen.

Mercury adjusted his stance, clearly wary of the new development. "Interesting choice of equipment," Mercury remarked, his smirk faltering just a bit. "Let's see how they hold up."

Y/n didn't respond. Instead, he took a step forward, his movements precise. He aimed a quick jab towards Mercury, who dodged effortlessly but was forced to retreat a step.

Mercury's confidence began to waver as he noticed Y/n's improved focus and the enhanced capabilities of his gloves. He lunged forward with a flurry of rapid kicks, trying to overwhelm Y/n. Y/n countered with smooth, controlled movements, deflecting and dodging Mercury's strikes with ease.
