Running through the hallways of the hospital I stumble upon my Uncle Mitch signing some paperwork by the front desk.
"Have we heard anything yet?" I speak breathlessly awaiting his answer.
"Not yet. They are in there now with the doctor, we are lucky they said it could have been a lot worse..." At his words I sigh.
"Oh my god how did this even happen!?" I speak in a stern tone.
A few hours earlier
Leant against the kitchen counter I notice Luke walking into the kitchen where my mom and dad and myself are now occupying.
"There he is the birthday boy. Big days coming up soon what do you want?" My father speaks as he chews his breakfast.
"I guess I could use a belt." Luke speak unbothered.
"A belt?" I question his answer and narrow my eyes.
"You're right I don't need one. An extension cord works just fine..." He lifts his shirt revealing an extension cord wrapped around his trouser as I open my mouth at the sight.
My parents have decided to throw Luke a massive birthday party this year. His birthday often gets lots in the thanksgiving festivities. One year my parents forgot completely and had to improvise a cake made up of stuffing, that was a low point in their parenthood journey.
"Oh my god, didn't think you would all out?" I shout over to my dad who is overlooking a rock wall being put up in our driveway.
"It's cool isn't it." He shouts over in excitement as I raise my eyes to the top of the wall.
"You sure it's safe?" I ask in a serious tone as I gaze my eyes back to my dads.
"You sound just like your mother, yes it's safe I signed like a hundred waivers..." I waves his hands shrugging off my comment.
"That doesn't sound good." I sigh and glare at him as he still had a smile spread across his face.
"It will be fine and Luke will have fun trust me your old papa has it in the bag." He bigs himself up as I tilt head to one side examining his actions.
"Where have I heard that before?" I express my concerns.
That afternoon all the kids are placed within the living room as we watch the reptile show, which said reptile is currently on Luke's head.
