"Alright so everyone had to be here at 5:30 tonight to rehearse our house of horrors..." My mom speaks while handing Luke his sandwich.
My mom is obsessed with Halloween, if a new horror movies comes out she will be the first in line to see it. My dad on the other hand... yeah he has a complicated relationship with anything scary.
"Can we still count on Jack for our scary scarecrow?" Mom questions.
"I think his exact words were should I wear overalls?"
"So I will take that as a yes. Tell him thank you."
"Yes mom." I salute to her as Hayley emerges into the kitchen in a questionable Halloween costume.
"Check it. I'm scary black cat."
"The only person that costume scares is me. Go change it to one of your old ones..." My mom replies as she pulls a disgusted face walking out of the kitchen.
That night all the family gather at the house for Halloween. Looking at my reflection in the mirror I rake my hands through my hair peering down at my hospital gown.
"You are one sexy hospital patient." Jack creeps up behind me as I turn to face him.
"Mentally unstable hospital patient." I correct him before placing a peck on his lips.
"Okay Mom you can't be angry at this. I'm Mother Theresa." Jack and I follow Hayley into the living room where my family are gathered.
"You have got to be kidding me." My mom snaps.
"What!? I'm her back when she was hot." Hayley replies.
"I will pay you 10 dollars for you to put on more clothes." Mom points at her as Alex chimes in.
"Bet it's the first time you've heard that one." Alex sniggers.
"Okay you know what, here we go let's just cover you up... all right I just wanna run this over for everybody first it's trick or treat then Dad does the thunder lighting and the fog, then Gloria pops up as the evil village bruja and she says welcome to your nightmare hahahaha..." After covering up Hayley she gives us the quick run down of the night.
"Then the kids think it's all over but it's not because they get one last scare by the Jack as the scarecrow on the porch when it pops to life..." My mom high five's mr dad as I let out a little laugh.
Mom runs out to the kitchen to get the candy as Dad and Gloria arrive.
