"That is so unfair! You told me I could go..." Hayley screams at Mom who is stationed on the bottom step as I examine what is going on.
"I'm trying to work guys." I huff folding my arms.
"I said if you got an A, and you got a B so..." My mom ignores my comment.
"I have a learning disability the letter jump around on the page and appear backwards." Haley states.
"Hayley that's not something to be proud off."
"Honey we had you tested trust me I was praying for dyslexia." My mom grins walking off and into the kitchen while my dad drags both into Alex and Hayley's bedroom.
"What is it now Dad I have tons of work to do." I sigh planting myself on the bed next to my siblings.
"This will only take a minute Callie. So you all know how Mom can get when Nana Dede comes to visit."
"Physco." Alex states.
"Scary." Hayley replies after.
"Drunk." Followed by Luke.
"Crazy." I add.
"All of those things which is why we need to be on our best behaviour. Luke if your Mom starts to lose it I need you to put on your best cute voice. Okay." We all nod in unison.
My Nana is crazy to say the least. Last time we saw her she tackled Gloria over our couch and had to be dragged away by my Dad and Jack. It was quite traumatic for Jack because of his past with her. If you know, you know.
A little later in the evening Jack arrives to the house.
"Hey, you okay?" I ask as I see him walking into the kitchen looking puzzled.
"Erm I think so. I just passed this dude in your hallway who is currently having a height battle with your father. Also spoke to your Nana Dede." He plants himself next to me on the couch.
"Wow I don't know which one to ask about first." I chuckle as my mom and Nana enter the kitchen.
"Hey mom why is there a random dude in our hallway?"
"That is my ex boyfriend from college, Robbie, your Nana invited him over for dinner." My mother grits her teeth, I can tell she is not happy about this one.
"Ohhh— okay."
"Hello Jack, Callie oh you both still look so sweet together." My Nana greets us as I hear Jack take a gulp beside me.
"Hello Dede." Jack nods his head and adjusts his stance.
"Hi Nana." I offer a small smile.
At the dinner table we are all gathered around devoting our food, including my Nana and her new friend Robbie. Nana is basically spilling all of Moms past love life across the table as she shares her stories about what her and Robbie used to get up to back in college.
