["the dinner"]

The last 2 months have consisted of me laying on the couch all day watching Gloria's favourite Spanish soap opera waiting for baby to make its arrival.

I left work a month ago to prepare for the babies arrival, Jack has been round everyday making sure I'm okay and all my snacks are provided for. He's been amazing, but I'm ready to get this baby out.

Today I am sat on the couch contemplating getting up to change the channel, in the end I don't move. Until the phone starts to ring.

"Really?" I whine while limping over to the buzzing. "Hello, whoever this is it better be good." I sigh before hearing Cams squeal come from the other end.

"Callie, it's time. We are having a baby! The agency called us this morning someone picked us." He beams.

"Oh Cam that's amazing! I'm so happy for you guys. I can't wait to meet him." I smile down the line as I see Jack walking in for his daily visit.

"It's Cam they are getting a baby today!" I whisper to Jack as he takes the phone from my ear.

"Congratulations guys! That's amazing news! See you soon." He beams with happiness before ending the call and gleaming towards me.

"And how is this baby?" He softly strokes my stomach.

"Ready to come out." I sigh as I watch his eyes fill with fear.

"Oh no don't worry I haven't had the confirmation yet I just want it to be soon." I whine as I take a hold of his hands.

"Nearly had a heart attack Callie, I haven't even assembled the car seat yet."

"Then that is next on your to do list." I aim my finger towards him.

"No no honey, arms up here says I don't know who you are..." My dad's voice rises from the living room.

"I don't." Alex replies from the living room as I narrow my eyes towards Jack and head towards the sound of the music to find my dad and Alex dancing while my mom overviews.

"What is all this?" I ask.

"Your father is teaching your sister how to dance at prom. She needs this." My mom grabs my shoulder as I take a quick sigh before the door opens revealing Hayley carrying a grocery bag.

"You're never gonna believe it, I got a job... oh shoot I just told you." Hayley whines as my mom and dad shower her in hugs.

"I'm proud of you Hayley." I try to force my hand over her shoulder as I can't move.

"That's so good sweetie. And what is all of this." My mom asks the obvious.

"I stopped by the grocery store and picked up a few things for tonight, me and Dylan are cooking for the family."

"You know where the grocery store is?" My mom folds her arms.

"Yes mother it's a celebration." She states before beaming with a smile. I slowly lean into Jacks shoulder as he halfway through a bag of chips.

"She's up to something. I can smell it on her, I can also smell them chips you didn't offer me." I grab the bag from his hand and smirk.

That night at dinner we are joined by Hayley and Dylan, minus Alex because she is at her prom. I'm glad she decided to go but I'm sad Hayley didn't. Everyone should be able to experience it, it's a part of high school.

"Alex should be hitting the dance floor about now. I'm just sad you're missing it Hayley." My dad whines.

"Okay Dad let it go." She rolls her eyes.

"Okay then... better get these plates cleaned up." Jack rises.

"No it's okay me and Dylan will do it." Hayley and Dylan rise and take the plates in front of us.

"Cam and Mitch get a new son and we've got a new daughter." My mom smirks to my dad.

"Next time we should do it at our place..." Dylan speaks before raising his hand over Hayley's shoulder. At the moment I feel a sharp pain rush through the centre of my stomach.

Grabbing onto the table I groan in pain before feeling Jacks hands land on both of my shoulders.

"Callie are you okay?" He checks me out as I lower my head to ground and focus on my breathing pattern.

"Eww shes peed." Luke moans.

"Oh god it's happening everyone..." My mom begins to shout as her words become fuzzy in my mind.

"Let's move people. Jack you get Callie, take her to the car. Hayley you grab her bag and take to the trunk. It's happening..." My dad runs to the door.

I feel Jack guide to the car as chaos rains amongst me.

"Jack, it hurts like a mother..."

"I know Cal. I know. We are gonna get you to hospital okay." He soothes me with his words as I hop into the car.

After 6 painful hours of labour, Jack and I welcome our little baby girl Cameron (Cami) Carnell and she is so perfect.

I lay in the hospital bed taking in every second as I look into her auburn eyes while Jack and my parents a sat at my bedside.

"Knock knock..." My grandpa walks to the doorway.

"Grandpa." I whine as he kisses my forehead.

"How's my great granddaughter doing?" He softly strokes her little cheeks as she squirms around in my arms.

"She's doing perfectly. She is perfect." I smile down to Cami.

"She's beautiful. Just like my baby girl." My dad cries in the background.

"Oh Dad." I tilt my head into his as I snuggles my body into his.

"Well done sweetie." My mom kisses the back of my hand. "Oh Jack she already has your little crooked nose." My mom whines,

"She does doesn't she." Jack laughs to himself as he admires his daughter in my arms. "I love you Callie." Jack slowly whispers into my ear.

"Can we see now! Can we come in?" My siblings speak with excitement from the hallway.

"Yes everyone come in!" My dad wipes away his tears and beams with a smile as my brothers and sisters shower me love and hugs.

"Ayyy Callie, you are glowing. You did that little girl so proud." Gloria laughs and smile as she leans her body into mine.

As I watch the love in the room then place my eyes on Cami, I'm exactly where I want to be.
