A deep shimmer from the encased crystal began to light up the entire temple as cracks formed. Those shimmers soon became a blinding yellow light until from within the crystal emerged a young Zelda.
She slowly opened her eyes to Link standing just a few feet from her. The exhausted look in her eyes was palpable and she began to sway but not before Link had run to catch the girl.
"Good morning... Link..."
Link then walked hand-in-hand with the golden-haired girl to the awaiting Impa and Groose. All was right in the world, Demise had been vanquished, the world was safe, Zelda was safe.
However, it could not last.
A piercing ray of orange light struck Link and Zelda with diamonds flurrying all around them. Out came Ghirahim with a crazed look in his eyes, he was so far gone at this point he was almost unrecognizable.
"This is all very touching, really, but I'm afraid I have to cut this emotional moment short. It's best for everyone if you forget about your friend. The little goddess is mine now! My master may have perished in this age, but in the past he lives yet! I'm taking the girl back through that gate to help me revive the demon king!"
Ghirhaim had thrown Zelda over his shoulder like a rag doll that was seconds away from being disposed of. That is what he was going to do, dispose of Zelda. He even seemed joyful about the whole situation.
He loved basking in the solace of ending the goddess's reincarnated for everything she'd ever done to his master... for everything she ever did to Soleil.
"Zelda!" Link yelled in pain trying to get up.
"You've been so adorably dogged in your quest to get in my way, and as much as it has delighted me. I can no longer tolerate you nibbling at my heels."
"...Link..."
"...You know, boy, you've really pushed me too far. The moment I sweated and bled for is at hand. I don't even have the time to grind my heel into a worm like you Not now."

The vision continued to play out for me.
I saw Ghirahim's efforts to slow down Link and sacrifice Zelda's body. He did succeed and the world was plunged into darkness as soon as Demise had returned. In every possible future, I saw Demise retuning to do battle with Link.
In some universes, Link won while in others Demise did.
There was no tipping scale that made one more likely than the other. But it was for certain that whatever future unfolded, Link either dies by Demise's blade or Demise dies by Link's blade.
I had seen the evil that would raut all of the Surface if Demise would win.
I had seen the curse upon Link, Zelda's, and Demise himself if he lost.
But of course, he would lose. I saw future versions of myself with future versions of Ghirahim.
No matter the outcome, I would lose my brother. I would be faced to only ever face him as a mindless beast that no longer resembled my once loving brother.
I wanted to mourn his death however I had no time.
Link had already acquired all the sacred flames and received Zelda's blessing meaning he was about to search for the Triforce.
I knew what I had to do at this point but I wasn't sure if I had the strength to do it.

"And here I was thinking you were avoiding me."
Ghirhaim's voice echoed through the Skyview Spring. His cape flaring in the breeze his appearance created. Without giving me a second to react, he was before me grasping my wrists together with his one hand. The other in my hair tilting my head up to meet his gaze.
I sucked in a deep breath.
I had just willed myself to break from that nether world I was trapped in for what felt like decades.
"Ghira." I said softly. "It's... it's good to see you one last time."
His eyes that were filled with a dark look as of late softened for a second.
He knew what I was here for. He knew what he had to do. He had promised all this time that he wouldn't sacrifice me but now he had no much choice.
It was okay, or at least that's what I told myself. I knew that I couldn't let Zelda's soul to be sacrificed. She may be Hylia's reincarnated, but she was still Zelda my best friend.
"You were foolish for handing yourself on a silver platter."
I think he was waiting for some sort of a rebuttal, but it never came. It was never going to come. I had made peace with the fate I was meant to face.
"I know," I sighed. "I just want to enjoy my last moments with you."
I pressed a small kiss to his lips, and he never reciprocated.
"I promise it won't hurt."
"We both know that is a lie." I paused sitting there for a moment, contemplating so many things at once. "Was there anything I could have done to stop this?"
"No... no there wasn't. I'm sorry, I truly am."
I touched his cheek giving him one last kiss. This one however, he didn't refuse and if sword spirits could cry I know he would have been. I was crying.
"It's alright, I know you are. Just remember that no matter what happens I love you and I always will. And I hope we get to see each other again in another life."
I really did mean that with all my heart. I wanted to be in love with the demon without all the messiness that we had to deal with for the past lives. I wanted true real love with him despite everything. But I knew I'd never get my happily ever after with him no matter how much we both wanted it.
And with that, the air thickened as Ghriahim prepared to sacrifice my soul to revive his demonic master.
