Taking it slow and steady

The next few weeks were a whirlwind of new experiences and emotions for Kendall and Logan. Their first date, a casual dinner at a favorite restaurant, had been a comfortable mix of old friendship and the thrill of something new. As they sat across from each other, talking about everything from music to memories, it was clear that their connection was as strong as ever—only now, there was a new layer of excitement underneath it all.

They started going on more dates, testing the waters of this new relationship. Some nights, they'd hit up a cozy bar or try out a new restaurant in the city. Other times, they'd keep it simple, hanging out at one of their places, watching movies, and just enjoying each other's company. The line between friendship and something more blurred further with each passing day.

In between their dates, they spent time in the studio with the band. The work was intense as they prepared for everything planned in the coming months, but it was also fun—especially with the energy Kendall and Logan brought to their songwriting sessions. The two of them seemed to be more in sync than ever, bouncing ideas off each other and finishing each other's thoughts. Carlos and James couldn't help but notice the ease with which they worked together, often joking that they were soulmates in the creative process.

"Seriously, you guys are like two halves of the same brain," Carlos teased one afternoon, as they wrapped up a particularly productive session.

Logan grinned, shrugging it off. "Maybe we're just really good at writing love songs," he quipped, his eyes flicking to Kendall with a subtle hint of something more.

Kendall laughed along, playfully wrapping an arm around Logan's shoulders. "Or maybe we've just been at this too long, and we're starting to share brain cells."

James shook his head with a smile. "Whatever it is, keep it up. The songs are killer."

But it wasn't just in the studio where the spark between them was evident. On their third date, the connection that had been building between them finally reached a tipping point. They had decided to keep it low-key, spending the evening at Logan's place, cooking dinner together and reminiscing about old times. The night was filled with laughter and easy conversation, the kind that only came from knowing someone for so many years.

As the evening drew to a close, they found themselves sitting on the couch, the room quiet except for the soft music playing in the background. Logan turned to Kendall, his expression serious for the first time that night. "I've been thinking a lot about us," he began, his voice steady but full of emotion.

Kendall's heart skipped a beat. "Yeah?" he replied, his voice barely above a whisper.

"Yeah," Logan continued, shifting a little closer. "And I think... I think we're good together. I want to see where this goes."

Kendall felt a rush of warmth at Logan's words. He'd been feeling the same way, but hearing Logan say it out loud made it all the more real. "I want that too," he admitted, his eyes meeting Logan's.

They sat in silence for a moment, the weight of their words settling between them. Then, without saying anything more, Logan leaned in, closing the distance between them. Kendall's breath caught in his throat, his heart racing as Logan's lips met his in a soft, tentative kiss.

It was a simple kiss, but it held a world of meaning—a promise of something more, something that had been simmering between them for years. When they finally pulled away, both of them were smiling, the nervousness gone, replaced by a sense of rightness that neither of them could deny.

"Guess that makes it official, huh?" Logan murmured, his forehead resting against Kendall's.

Kendall nodded, unable to stop smiling. "Yeah, I guess it does."

From that night on, their relationship took on a new level of intimacy. They continued going on dates and hanging out after studio sessions, but now there was a new comfort between them, a sense of belonging that neither had experienced before. They didn't try to hide their affection, but they also didn't make a big deal out of it. Around Carlos and James, they were a bit more flirty, exchanging glances and light touches that were easily brushed off as them just joking around—something their bandmates attributed to the love songs they were working on.

But as the weeks passed and their relationship deepened, it became clear to both Kendall and Logan that it was time to take the next big step. They had been friends for so long, and their families were important to both of them. If they were going to be serious about this relationship, they needed to tell the people who mattered most.

One evening, as they sat together on the couch in Kendall's living room, the conversation turned serious. "We should probably tell our families, don't you think?" Kendall asked, his tone tentative.

Logan nodded slowly, a thoughtful expression on his face. "Yeah, I've been thinking about that too. It's just... I don't know, it's a little nerve-wracking."

Kendall sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I know what you mean. It's not like I'm worried about them reacting badly, but... it's a big step, you know? And we've both been dating girls before. We're in our thirties now, and suddenly we're telling them we're together. It's just... a lot."

Logan reached over, taking Kendall's hand in his. "Hey, it's going to be okay. We've known our families forever. They love us, and they'll be happy for us. But I get it—it's a big deal."

Kendall squeezed Logan's hand, feeling a bit of the tension ease out of him. "You're right. It's just...."

Logan chuckled, leaning in to press a kiss to Kendall's temple. "Well, who knows how it'll all play out? But I'm with you, and that's what matters. We'll figure the rest out together."

Kendall smiled, feeling a rush of affection for the man sitting next to him. "Yeah, we will. So, should we do it? Tell them?"

Logan nodded, his eyes filled with a quiet determination. "Yeah, let's do it. We've come this far, and I want everyone to know how much you mean to me."

With that decision made, they spent the rest of the evening planning how they would break the news to their families, their excitement tinged with a bit of nervousness. But they knew that whatever happened, they would face it together—just like they always had.
