After wrapping up the interview at PopSugar, the band decided to head out for a late lunch. They were in high spirits, the energy from the interview still buzzing between them. Kendall and Logan exchanged glances, silently agreeing that today felt like the right time to start being more natural in public.
"Where should we go?" Carlos asked as they piled into the car, his stomach audibly growling. "I'm starving."
"How about that new spot downtown?" James suggested. "Heard they have killer burgers and salads, so there's something for everyone."
Logan nodded. "Sounds good to me. I could use a good meal after all those 'this or that' questions."
Kendall chuckled. "Yeah, I'm with you on that. Let's do it."
The car ride to the restaurant was filled with the usual banter and laughter. Carlos made fun of James for his insistence on always picking the healthiest option, while James teased Carlos about his not-so-secret obsession with dessert. Meanwhile, Logan and Kendall sat close, their hands occasionally brushing as the car swayed through traffic. It was subtle, nothing too noticeable, but enough to make Kendall feel grounded and comfortable.
When they arrived at the restaurant, it was surprisingly quiet for a late afternoon. A few customers were scattered around the outdoor seating area, enjoying the sun and their meals. The host recognized them immediately, but he kept his cool, leading them to a semi-private table in the corner, where they could enjoy their meal without being too exposed.
They settled in, ordering a round of drinks and scanning the menu. Logan and Kendall sat side by side, as they usually would, and for the first time in a long while, they didn't overthink it. Logan casually draped his arm over the back of Kendall's chair, not in an overly affectionate way, but just enough to feel close.
"Okay, I'm definitely getting the burger," Carlos announced after a few minutes of intense menu-studying. "With extra cheese."
"Shocker," James teased. "I'll go for the grilled chicken salad. Gotta keep up the healthy streak."
"I think I'll try the steak," Kendall said, glancing at Logan. "What about you?"
Logan smiled. "I'm leaning towards the pasta. But maybe we can share?"
Kendall grinned back. "Deal."
James raised an eyebrow, noticing the exchange but keeping quiet. He and Carlos had been supportive of Kendall and Logan's relationship from the start, but seeing them so at ease in public was a new experience. It wasn't that they were flaunting it-there was no hand-holding or overt displays of affection-but there was a comfort between them that hadn't been there before.
Their food arrived quickly, and they dug in, the conversation flowing easily as they ate. They talked about everything from upcoming plans for the band to the latest movie releases, just like they always did. It was during a lull in the conversation that Kendall leaned into Logan slightly, pointing out something on his plate with a quiet comment that made Logan laugh.
A few tables away, a group of teenagers were staring, whispering excitedly among themselves. They were clearly fans, but they didn't rush over or try to interrupt. Instead, they snapped a few discreet photos, probably planning to post them later with captions that would fuel the ever-growing rumors.
Logan noticed the girls and gave them a friendly wave, which sent them into a flurry of giggles. Kendall smiled, not feeling the usual spike of anxiety that came with being watched. He wasn't hiding anymore-not from the fans, not from the world, and not from himself.
"So," James said, leaning back in his chair, "what's next on the agenda? Are we actually taking a break for once, or do we have more promo stuff lined up?"
Carlos shrugged. "A little of both, I think. We deserve a break, but you know how it is. There's always something going on."
"We could use some time to just chill," Logan said, glancing at Kendall, who nodded in agreement. "But I wouldn't mind a few more interviews like today. That was fun."
"Yeah, it was," Kendall agreed. "And the fans seemed to enjoy it too."
The conversation shifted back to band business, but there was a lightness to it now. Kendall and Logan were still careful, but they were no longer on edge, no longer worried about every little move being analyzed. They were just two people, enjoying lunch with their best friends.
As they finished their meal and paid the bill, they lingered for a few more minutes, soaking in the warm afternoon sun. The teenagers had left, but not before posting their pictures online, which were already starting to circulate. Logan checked his phone briefly, smiling at a few of the comments.
When they finally stood up to leave, Logan's hand brushed against Kendall's again. This time, Kendall didn't pull away. Instead, he squeezed Logan's hand briefly before letting go, a silent promise that they were in this together, no matter what came next.
The four of them walked out of the restaurant, laughing about something Carlos said, blending into the city's afternoon bustle. To the casual observer, they were just four friends enjoying a day out. But to those who knew, who paid attention, there was something more-a quiet, undeniable connection between Kendall and Logan that no longer needed to be hidden.
As they headed back to the car, Logan slid his arm around Kendall's waist, pulling him close for a moment. Kendall leaned into him, a small, content smile on his face. They didn't need to say anything-their actions spoke louder than words.
They were ready for whatever came next.

Back online, the photos from the lunch outing were already gaining traction. Fans were quick to point out the little moments-the smiles, the shared food, the subtle touches. It wasn't anything groundbreaking, but it was enough to send the fandom into a frenzy of speculation and excitement.
And for the first time, Kendall wasn't worried about it. He was just happy.
And that was enough.
