We just passed the signage that said we were close enough to the viewpoint. Malalang pangha-hype naman ang ginawa ni Kuya Rex sa amin at halos lahat ay nananabik nang marating ang destinasyon namin.
"Hey, babe. You good?" Derek asked, concerned about how I breathed deeply to catch my breaths. Hinawakan pa ako nito sa braso ko bilang pag-alalay sa akin.
"Yes, babe. I'm good. . ." sagot ko naman. "Malapit na tayo sa viewpoint! I can't wait to see it."
"Same here, babe!" he uttered. "It's time to get our asses back up."
"Everybody, we're almost at the end of our trek! Are you all ready?"
"Yes," all cheered.
"That's what I'm talking about!" Kuya Rex said. "Wala nang hihinto, ah? You have all the time sa crater view mag-picture-picture o kung ano man trip niyong gawin basta 'wag lang ang gawin ang mga sinabi ko kanina, okay?"
Sinundan lang namin si Kuya Rex at hindi ko inintindi kung gaano pa kalayo ang isang kilometro at kalahati. Dagdag pa ng aming tour guide na fifteen to twenty minutes na lang daw ang pagte-trek namin papunta sa crater view at tatagal lang kami kung bawat point ay magpi-picture kami.
Hindi pa rin naman nakinig 'yong iba. Mas pinili namin ni Derek na dumiretsyo na at mamaya na namin gawin ang picture taking. Marami pa namang chance lalo na kung pababa na. Ang stressful nang pag-akyat habang easy-peasy na lang daw ang pagbaba. I was already looking forward to that, but I can't miss the chance to take the moment to live this day with my boyfriend.
As the minutes passed by, tinatanaw na namin ang signage na tinutukoy ni Kuya Rex. It will just take us a few steps up the stairs to reach it. Nang marinig namin humiyaw sina Lanah at Priscilla ay nagmadali ang lahat dahil nang makita namin sila ay nakita na rin namin ang signage kung saan nagsasabi ng "Welcome to Mt. Pinatubo", and it was fucking insane.
Everyone took their time in taking a picture with the huge signage. We thought it was a fulfilling moment for all of us, pero sinabi pa ni Kuya Rex na ibang-iba ang mararamdaman namin once marating namin ang viewpoint.
Kuya Rex was the one who took everyone's picture at pagkatapos ng bawat isa ay sinundan na lamang ang pathway kung saan makikita ang crater view.
I was holding my boyfriend's hand as we made our way to the crater view, and both of us were left in awe. Our mouths dropped as we thought we wouldn't ever see this wonder in our lifetime, but we did.
"Babe, you're crying," pagpuna ni Derek sa akin habang nakangiting nakatingin sa akin. He wiped those tears away with his thumb. "It's so beautiful. I'm happy you thought of this and I couldn't be happier. . . Thank you so much, my love, for everything. . ."
"Thank you for everything, babe. . . I love you. . ." I uttered, and the next thing I knew, I felt his lips on mine.
We were standing at the place where a disaster had started and to see it after twenty decades, it left a natural wonder. It is still an active volcano and could erupt at any given time, but I won't wish that to happen. I want this day to be so memorable without any bad things to happen.
