12:40PM. ~ NY Sidewalk ~Scottie waited patiently as I approached her with my coat on. I cleared my throat. "Alright, got your message. What do you want?" I asked cautiously. She smiled, squinting her eyes. "You sound like you don't trust me." She spoke. I scoffed and fake smiled. "Trust is a strong word. You practically sandbagged Mike with Jessica." I sassed. "Jessica sandbagged Jessica. And in terms of you and myself, I'm here to apologize." She told me. The cautiousness in my voice disappeared. "What?" I managed to say. "I'm sorry for trying to come between you and Harvey. What you said in your office was half-correct. About having disloyal relationships. It was wrong. I guess I was just so used to the old Harvey." She continued, frowning. I said nothing and nodded. "I apologize for the hurtful words I've said about you, your marriage, your old relationship with him. And other words I rather not mention." I spoke quietly. She scoffed. "Don't be. You've brought out a side of him I never could. He's really different with you. And for what it's worth he never considered being cheating on you. He fought me the whole time." She finished. I smiled and brushed off my red cheeks. "He really cares and loves you. A shame I didn't see it before." She whispered. My brain clicked, remembering the question of why I'm here. "Why exactly am I here then?" I repeated. Scottie reached into her bag and pulled out a file. "We're meeting here because Mike will never find this. Consider it an olive branch to close this chapter between all three of us." She said, handing me it. I opened the file and stared in total disbelief. "If this checks out, it will win the case for us." I said. She nodded. "I know." She said. "Then why are you giving me this instead of Harvey?" I asked, looking up. "Besides making things right with you, Harvey's brother got sick. He needed money. His father didn't have any. His mother wasn't in the picture." She explained. A knowing smile crept on my lips. "Don't tell me. Harvey found a way to help him." I said. "He used his tuition. Anyway, when his mother found out, she contacted him. Harvey wouldn't take a nickel from her. So, she gave his brother the money who used it to pay him back." She finished. Harvey mentioned things about his brother but never about him being sick. But it's a touchy subject. I smiled. "He told me about him. Except that he was sick." I told her. Scottie returned the gesture. "You'd like him. He's like Mike." She said, walking past me. "So you're saying I should tell Harvey Mike found this on his own?" I asked. She turned around. "You don't have to. But it will definitely increase your odds of him using it." She told me. Here I was, thinking and believing the absolute worse of her, yet she went out of her job to do this. Even if it means Harvey will win the case. Perhaps I should thank her. I almost spoke but she was already gone.

He will be mad, no he won't. He'll be mad, but this helps him whatsoever. Just steer clear of his ill temper. I walked in his office quietly. "Mike found something." I quickly said and ignored my trembling lip. Harvey looked up from his work. "Let me see." He spoke, smiling. I walked to the desk and handed him the file. "It's not done. We have to hurry, Mike said he can get it done tomorrow morning." I told him. He finished reading silently and looked up. "This is good." He spoke approvingly. I mentally breathed a breath of relief. Unfortunately, his expression changed quickly. "Now where did you really get it? If Mike found this, he would've brought it to me himself." He said sternly. Damn it. I sighed nervously and cleared my throat. "Don't lose your cool. Scottie gave it to me." I admitted. He blinked surprisingly. "What?" He blurted. "Scottie asked me to meet her—He cut me off. "And you went?!" He asked in disbelief. I huffed. "Yes I did but she apologized to me Harvey. She gave this to me to help." I explained. He nodded disbelievingly. "Scottie never does anything as a help, she's trying to manipulate you because she knows I'll never fall for it." He said. I scoffed, glaring. "You don't know that." I told him. "Elizabeth, I know her." Harvey said in a serious tone. I rubbed my temple annoyedly. "Yeah, I'm aware of your history. But if she was tricking me, that file would've been counterfeit. Not to mention she wouldn't have sounded so serene and apologetic." I said. His jaw tightened. "You're not listening to me." He spoke. I gritted my teeth because he's testing my patience. "Harvey, I'm not gonna fight with you about this. You need this, you can win with it and you know it." I said calmly. Harvey stood up out of his chair. "Here's what you don't get. You can't trust her. If it came from her, it will come back to bite us in the ass." He told me. I inhaled a deep breath. "Tomorrow morning is coming. And you don't have anything else. If I can put my issues with her behind me and trust that this is for real, can you trust me?" I asked. He stared at me thoughtfully while his fingers tapped his desk. "Give him the file." He said. The mental relieved smile crossed my head. I nodded and exited his office enough to breathe a breath of relief.
7PM.
"Mommy, are we ever gonna get a dog?" Avery asked suddenly. I smiled while packing things in my bag. "Aww baby, someday we will. Mommy and Auntie Maya love puppies so much. Just not right now. Taking care of a dog is a big responsibility." I told her. She nodded in understanding and zipped up her backpack. I noticed she hadn't taken her SpongeBob plushie. "Not taking SpongeBob?" I mentioned. Avery nodded her head no. "No. He belongs here when I come after school. And Bubo—She paused, hugging the toy. "Belongs at home." She finished. Wait! What?! I furrowed my eyebrows weirdly. Maya must've got the same reaction since she just came in. We shared confusion. Avery put him underneath her arm and smiled. "Is it ok if Bubo sits on the couch when I come home Mommy?" She asked. We looked at each other awkwardly then back at her. Maya smiled. "Yes sweetie but one time. Dogs are supposed to be on the floor because they could make a mess on the couch." She said. She cheered. Guess I don't need all the stern talks and timeouts anymore. My phone buzzed in my hand. I saw a text from Mike.
Mikey: can we talk at my bullpen?
Damn, after everything escalated quickly, my only prayer is nothing else goes wrong. "Mike?" Maya guessed. I smirked teasingly. "You saw the text." I said. She chuckled. "I'll stay with Avery. Go ahead." She assured. The only good thing was Avery getting over a toy obsession. Yet I had no idea coming to Mike's bullpen was gonna start another atomic bomb.
