Letting Go...Well Sort Of

Time passed as it always does. It doesn't stop, or rest, or whatever no matter how much Enid wanted it to. Enid had spent the first couple of days in bed after everything went to hell. She knew it was stereotypical and pathetic but she didn't care. Enid had felt broken. Like she was a puzzle that was missing the most important pieces. She felt the loss of Wednesday immediately and immensely. No one would ever understand her loss. She knew even if Wednesday did return to Nevermore things would never be the way they were. They couldn't be. They probably wouldn't be friends at least probably not close ones. They most definitely could not be roommates again. Enid knew she should never have agreed to become official with Ajax. She knew she was developing real feelings for Wednesday, but it all happened so fast and seemingly out of nowhere, and it was a bit scary and intense.

Enid never really meant for Ajax to happen. It was never meant to be serious with him. She liked him. She had a bit of a crush at one point, but that was it. She and Wednesday had a huge fight. She had left their dorm pissed off at Wednesday. She was more pissed off than she had ever been in her life before. Pissed off because Wednesday had lied to her face. Pissed off because Wednesday had used and manipulated her. Pissed off because Wednesday's stupid obsession with the case and the dumb monster had almost gotten both of them killed. She was hurt by it all. But she was also jealous. Like really jealous.

Wednesday had been hanging out with Tyler more. They even went to the Rave'N' together. He obviously liked her, and she invited him to investigate with them without even telling Enid. Enid had felt like a third wheel that night. Especially after Wednesday insisted on going back for Tyler. Enid felt like what she just went through hadn't mattered to her bestie. She felt disregarded. Then Xavier showed up setting off the pissing contest between he and Tyler making everything ten times worse.

Enid was so jealous it hurt. So she wanted to hurt Wednesday back. She wanted to make her so upset it would force her to admit what Enid had already felt growing between them. It didn't work. The tension was thick. Wednesday was supposed to chase her and stop her from leaving. She was supposed to wrap her arms around Enid and kiss her senseless. That never happened. Enid respected Wednesday's boundaries to much to cross that line on her own without solid proof or absolute necessity.   So Enid kept stopping by the dorm with one excuse or another as to why she was there just to see her. She was hoping Wednesday would ask her to come back. That she would ask Enid to stay. She didn't. All they did was argue. It cut deeply.

Ajax was there for her when she needed someone. He didn't force her to talk about what was wrong. He was just there. So when Ajax finally asked her to be his girlfriend right before she decided to go back to the dorm, Enid had agreed. It was something she instantly regretted, but she couldn't just take it back.

She didn't dislike Ajax. He was a solid dude and a good enough kisser even if he was a little forgetful and derpy but at the same time, he wasn't Wednesday. With Ajax, it was like. With Wednesday, it was love. Enid had even subconsciously started to distance from Ajax a little before Wednesday was expelled then when she was seemingly gone Enid fell right back into Ajax's arms because he was there. Then the attack happened her wolf chose Wednesday. Enid was so afraid she shifted to protect her, afraid she was going to lose her. Ajax was there when she shifted back asking for the girl. He noticed. They fought that night over Enid's willingness to sacrifice herself for Wednesday. He left mad. It seemed so long ago, but it really wasn't. Now she had seemingly lost them both forever.

Enid had kept up her online search for Wednesday to no avail. She hadn't heard back from any of the Addams's she had messaged and Wednesday definitely hadn't reached back out. Why would she? Wednesday thought Enid was with Ajax. Wednesday thought her feelings were unrequited. Nothing was farther from the truth but Wednesday didn't know that. What had Enid expected? Enid knew deep down she'd probably never see Wednesday again no matter how many times she wished on shooting stars, tossed coins into fountains and wishing wells, or wished 11:11s. What was done was done. Even though a big part of her refused to accept it.
