⚠️ Another long one. Not as long, but we're skipping months, then years of time here and I wanted to fill it in the best I could with some heart warming junk. Some of us need it. Oh and trigger warnings: The usual ones plus, pregnancy scare, birth (not graphic at all. It just happens.), and a pinch of postpartum depression and feelings of inadequacy. And a toddler they can most definitely be triggering.⚠️
Wednesday ten weeks pregnant.
"Ok Wednesday lay back and lift your shirt please." Felicia Grimm asked. "This might feel a little cold." She stated. Wednesday complied. "Ok so, do you understand what we're doing here today?" Dr. Grimm asked while glancing at the monitor. "Yes, I believe this is called an ultrasound." Wednesday snarked. "Wednesday." Morticia chided. Dr. Grimm cleared her throat. "Technically you're not wrong." She said giving Wednesday a little smile. "It's purpose is to validate the viability and overall health of the baby so far, solidify a due date, and make sure that the embryo well fetus now, hasn't split." The doctor replied. "There could be more than one?!" Wednesday asked with just a hint of trepidation. The doctor nodded. "Do twins run in your family Ms. Addams?" the doctor teased. Knowing full well they did. Morticia and Ophelia were in fact twins.
Wednesday let her head fall back against the table she was currently laying on. Morticia took her daughter's hand. Wednesday let her. Morticia and Wednesday had traveled to Dr. Grimm's office for the first ultrasound of Baby Addams. Wednesday was still referring to it as beast, parasite, demon, it, and the creature. Her family called it the baby, the child, and Baby Addams. Eugene called it bean or honey. They had all started taking bets on due dates, gender, weight, size, hair and eye color. It all seemed ridiculous to Wednesday but she allowed it to happen. With Gomez as the record keeper and bookie for it all she had nothing to worry about. It was apparently normal, and it made him happy. Her family loved the little beast already.
Everyone around her seemed very attached to the idea of cries throughout the night and little running feet echoing through the halls of Addams Manor. They already seemed attached to it in general. Wednesday wasn't so sure. She was still trying to remain neutral. She was trying to remain unfazed, and unattached. She still wasn't sure what she was going to do. Keep it, or find it a new home after the birth. Maybe they could just part ways as cordial strangers. Teenaged motherhood definitely did not fit into her plans.
The gel hitting her abdomen brought Wednesday out of her musings. It was cold. It felt odd. Wednesday quite enjoyed the sensation. Dr. Grimm cleared her throat as she began to move the wand end of the thing around. "Ah, there they are. "They?" Wednesday asked alarmed. "Don't worry, there's only one Wednesday." Felicia grinned.
Morticia looked at the screen with tears in her eyes. "Look Wednesday." Morticia cooed. "How big is the baby? Is it healthy?" Morticia asked. "Yes. The baby seems to be developing right on track. Due date would appear to be in August. Everything looks as it should. As for the size, most people measure in terms of fruit so somewhere between a grape and a strawberry." Felicia answered. The doctor printed out some pictures and handed them to Morticia. Wednesday did not turn to the screen however she listened as her mother and the doctor exchanged words on how perfect the creature was. How you could see its little arms and legs, it's little finger nubs and toe buds. You could see its little face. It had perfect eyes. Blah blah blah the miracle of life.
Something in her chest tightened. Wednesday felt anxiety and panic start to flood her senses. What if she failed at this? How was she going to care for it? How could she be a mother? How was this going to work? She wanted the ultrasound to be over. She wanted her mother to stop talking. She wanted the doctor to stop touching her. Wednesday squeezed her eyes shut. She grit her teeth, and balled her fists. Her heart rate sped up. She felt like her head was going to explode. Everything swirled around her in a cacophony of noise, pressure, and light. It was all too much.
