Chapter 11 The haunted prison

It had been ten days since the incident on kyoshi island. Ten days since they knew the avatar was back. They tried to ignore the fact at first. But as more time passed, the news spread to their little corner of the earth kingdom. Not even they could ignore what was blatantly spoken everywhere.

"Did you hear that the avatar was friends with king bumi ?" One of them asked. "Yeah, that crazy manic and he were friends a hundred years ago." Another voice replied. "How ?" A third voice asked. "Beats me, spirit nonsense I suppose." The second voice replied. While the ladies were busy with their gossip and marketing. They were unaware of someone eavesdropping on them.

But honestly, even If they had better spatial awareness. They wouldn't think much of a little girl in her juvenile years paying close attention their conversation. That's how Azula liked it. She had decided to go shopping with her older brother. While shoto was busy purchasing some spices. She looked bored, so she decided to ease her curiosity by taking in from her surroundings.

Oh agni it didn't disappoint, she knew the avatar was back and fought zhao at kyoshi island. But that was about to the extent that she knew. But hearing that the avatar's, dangerous shenanigans and escapades. Concerned her, he is the last hope at winnings the war. Surely he would think that being stealthy would make learning the four elements more easier.

"Sold, have a nice day." The shopkeeper said. Which broke her from her thoughts. She looked at her older brother. "Come on we have one more purchase to make." He said to her. She trailed right behind him. As he went to the next shopkeeper.

"Hey did you here what happening town neighbouring the coast ?" A masculine voice asked. "Yeah I heard that there's is gonna be a new firenation colony there." A lighter voice replied. "As if the world doesn't have enough them." The masculine voice said. "That's not all I heard that they made earthbending illegal there." The lighter voice added. "How earth is literally everywhere ? They can't just stop earthbenders from bending." The masculine voiced replied. "I am not entirely sure, but there imprisoning and chaining up any and all earth benders that they find." The lighter said.

This was news, the small town down the coast had been fending off firebenders for the past 6 years. To hear that it was transformed into a colony was concerning. Because most of fish that was purchased here, where caught there. And with it most of the meat came from there. So have it colonised would mean a lot of supply issues. But that was not the only concern that she had, a few of the people that she befriend lived in that town. So what will happen to them ?

A look at her brother said that he also had the same concerns as her. The walk back to their house was quiet. Nether of them were talking about of what they had learned. Azula and shoto both entered their house. Shoto excused himself to the kitchen to pepare lunch. This left Azula alone so she decided to entertain herself by deciding to vist the training arena. She walked out the orignal houses until she reached one of the smaller huts that it connected to. She then opened the door that was labelled as the training arena.

She opened it and found her other older brother practising various forms with his swords. Whilst ignoring her, that wouldn't do. 'Ugh dum dum with his stupid swords. I should let him know I am here.' She thought to herself. She thought of calling out to him. But decided that wouldn't be as entertaining.

So she shot a live fireball at him. He instinctively moved his sword to block her attack in between his forms. But the moment the fireball hit the blade, zuko fell right on his butt. Azula carried a devious smirk on her face. "Tsk tsk zuzu, you shouldn't be slacking. Getting ambushed by your younger sister is shameful and dishonourable." Azula said while looking down at her brother. Zuko then gave a low kick to Azula's leg causing her to lose balance and fall to the ground. Zuko immediately got up and placed his sword infront of her neck. "This is really shameful lala on the ground with a sword infront of your neck." Zuko said while tilting his head down.
