Chapter 1 The Rift

'The room felt so warm' was the first thought that went into Shoto's mind. He twisted and promptly felt grass on his arm. He then slowly opened his eyes and he found himself staring right into a frog. Who crooked loudly while looking at him. The young barely 6 years old child jumped back in shock. He landed on a soft patch of grass. While looking at the frog, which only crooked right back at him.

Then it hit him the frog didn't exactly looked as he expected it to. It looked like a cross between a frog and badger. Shoto watched as the frog badger hopped away. He then took a moment to take in his surroundings. He looked around him and found that trees stood all around him. Shoto clutched his head on his tiny hands. He tried to rationalise the situation. He thought maybe this one of endeavours training tasks. 'Why now, why after his own mother just burned his face.' The little boy thought as he began to cry more and more. 'Couldn't he just for a moment let him be in peace.' Shoto demanded. But for no one to hear, as all of his emotions began to explode from within him.

Angry at his father for everything, upset at his mother for leaving them and feeling isolated because his siblings couldn't even look at him without contempt for being the cause of their mother disappearance. And even at this time his father couldn't just let him be at peace. He always had to ruin his life. In that moment, shoto todoroki's right side began baze into an Almighty inferno. The forest caught on fire and began to burn alight with fearsome fury.

Meanwhile
A group of soldiers could be seen marching down the forest. They wore a red and black armour with a skeleton mask. With sharp spikes jutting from their shoulders. The also moved in synchronised steps and great discipline. "Why are even here ?" One of the them said with exhaustion in his voice. "Haven't you been debrief about this ?" Another asked the man. "Well I was awaken in ass crack of dawn. So please enlighten as to what we are facing ?" The man said sarcastically to his comrade. The soldier sighed from underneath his helmet. 

"We were sent to investigate a myster--forest fire." The man stopped mid-sentence to point in the direction of the massive flames on the trees. "All right squadron divde and conquer. Try to stop the flames from spreading and keep yourselves inhaling to much of the toxic fumes."  The leader ordered his men.

The squadrons then split into multiple and began taking firebending stances each and began trying to disapate the flames and stop the fire from alreading further. As they were working together to extinguish the fire. One of them noticed the silhouette of a child in the admits the flames. "Captain there seems to child in the midsits." The man screamed over to his supervisor.

"Well don't just stand there. Get the boy out there." The captain ordered the man. The man then diverted the flames inorder to clear a path for him. To get closer to the boy, he outstretched his hand inorder to grab the boy.

Shoto todoroki looked ahead through tear soaken eyes and saw a hand reaching out. The man wore a scary red armour with a skull mask and had spikes on his shoulders. Immediately fear filled him, 'was he a villian ? Did his father sent inorder to train ? No no stay back stay back stay back.' He thought to himself. But the man continued to get closer, this time he outstretched his hands trying to grab him. Immediately Shoto's self preservation instinct went from zero to one hundred. And then he began moving his hands around rapidly, the fire that was burning the forest and a few of the firebenders fire cumulated together in his hands. Which he used to form a gigantic sphere of flame. Which he sent hurdling towards the man. He then passed out shortly afterwards from the heat and exhaustion.

Li-chen was a senior firenations soldier that had a long career experience in the military.  He had seen alot of things in his time of service from shipwrecks to crazed spirits. But nothing could pepare as he looked abject fear as he watched the little boy stand up and randomly moves and suddenly all the flames that they were trying to disapate and flames of his comrade all came together in the hands. As he watched the boy make the most massive fireball that he had ever seen in his lifetime. He doubted anything short of a dragon could never expelled that much flame all at once.

He immediately jumped out of the way as did his fellow soldiers in order to being turned into ash by the miniature sun. He snapped his head as he watched the boy collaspe onto the grass. For a few moments he only stared at the boy, one side of the boys hair was white. While other side had a deep red colour. He then got up and grab the unconscious boy. He looked at his comrades, who stared at the boy unsure of what to do of him ?

Until he looked at his captain and swallowed his tongue the asked him, "What do we do now captain ?" The man looked at him in silence. Whilst he couldn't read the man's emotion due to the mask on his face. But he could make a guess that he was contemplating his options. After much awkward silence, the man spoke ''Firelord azulon wanted an answer and we found it. So we are gonna present it to him." One of the soldiers protested, "But sir he is only child." The captain cut him off by saying, "A child that caused a massive pillar of light that was seen all the way from caldera. Who nearly took an entire squadron while not trying barely. Right now soldiers all things considered you don't wanna show upto the firelord empty handed now do you ?" The captain spoke harshly. Which caused every to turn dead silent. The captain gave a soft sigh and told them, "I don't want to do this either. This is beyond even my control. Gather the troops were heading back to caldera. And someone get this kid a medic, agni knows what he has been through in the damm forest." The man ordered his men. They followed command and began working their way back to caldera.
