Chapter 27 The aftermath Part 1

Yue(pov)
The scene began the princesses of the northern watertribe waking up in cold sweat. She took frantic gasps of air. As she looked around her surroundings. 'Just a dream' she told herself. Even if that was a dream, it didn't stop it from feeling so real. The red moon, her fathers corpose, her people dead. She couldn't go back to sleep. Not when she would greeted by those nightmares again.

"I need to breathe, this place is just suffocating." Yue told herself. Before she got from her bed and exited her bed room chambers. She walked aimlessly around the palace halls. With no rhyme or reason, but as she was walking down a hall. She noticed one of the doors to balcony was left open.

'I wonder why servants forget to close this door.' Yue thought to herself. She decided to close the door herself. Just as she was about to close. She saw the unmistakable orange robes of the Airbending monk. Who seemed to be looking up at the northern lights. Seeing as though she had nothing better to do. She decided to enter into the balcony. The cold northern winds swaying her hair to the south.

She walked forward until she was right beside the monk. "Why are you here ?" Aang asked her. "Well I couldn't sleep, so I decided to get some fresh air." Yue answered. Aang gave a soft hmm in response. For a moment a calm silence enveloped them, that was broken by the sounds of wind blowing to the south.

"I am conflicted." Aang said. "What do you mean ?" Yue asked for clarification. "On one hand I am glad that the northern watertribe was saved. But I feel bad that all these firenation soldiers had to die for it to happen." Aang confessed. "All these bloodshed and suffering for what ? Why can't we be all at peace ?" Aang said with exasperation.

"I know it's wrong, but it's what needs to happen." Yue said trying to comfort the airbender. "I know that, my whole responsibility as an avatar is to ensure peace. But I am not even sure, that If I am the avatar or not." Aang said with frustration. "I am confused, only the avatar is meant to bend more than one element. And yet shoto bended both fire and ice, it shouldn't be possible. But he exists and I also exists. How can there be two avatars at the same time ?" Aang yelled in confusion.

"I am sorry that I am yelling but--" "It's okay, you're not the only one that's confused. Eversince you came here, I have been guestioning everything that I believed. I thought that womens could never fight, then katara beat pakku effortlessly without even trying. I thought that the warrior would be able to keep firenation away and protect the tribe, but they failed. Lastly I thought giving my life up for to tui would be the end of it." Yue confessed as she looked out into the city of ice.

"But even then I was proven wrong, I died there's no other way to say it. I died got resurrected and now I can bend." Yue said and to further to prove her point. She manifested flames in a shade of light blue in the palm. "Not only fire but also water." She said as a block of ice appeared in her palm. "I myself have become a contradiction to everything that I thought was possible. I am not sure anymore if I am human or not. I wouldn't be surprised if turns out I am just an abomination." Yue said with a strained and conflicted tone.

In the moment that Yue was spaced out as dread and fear crept in. Aang the young child not sure what to do or how to comfort her, decided to hug her in attempt to comfort her. The airbending monk tightly hugged the princesses. "Why are you--" "You look like you needed a hug." Aang replied before she could fully ask. For a moment yue felt more clarity that she ever did, that maybe her humanity wasn't truly gone. And let herself be fully embraced by the avatar.

"Thanks Aang it means a lot to me." Yue said after a moment. "You're welcome, I hope your feeling better now." Aang said. "If you want you can stay in the same room with me, sokka and katara. If you're still feeling down." Aang offered.
