(No Control - 16. Stole My Heart)

We drive along the road and Jess pulls her phone out of her pocket and throws it in her bag with a tut, a little impatiently.

Uh oh - has she seen my Twitter follow? Is she pissed off?

My stomach lurches nervously at the idea of her being annoyed with me. I don't know why - I've already decided I can't see her again after today.

Or instead, I could just ask for her number.

For fuck's sake Harry, stop being so indecisive.

She looks over at me and our eyes meet as we stop in a queue of traffic. "There's something wrong with it," she says.

What?

Oh, she means her phone.

"What's wrong with it?" I ask.

"Dunno, just keep getting notifications for stuff, like Twitter."

Yep - that's what happens when you get a Harry follow, as the fans call it. Everyone else follows you too.

I've suddenly had an idea. I don't know if I've got the bottle to go through with it though.

The traffic lights up ahead are still on red. This queue won't be moving off for a while yet.

"Want me to take a look?" I offer.

"Um, sure."

She sounds uncertain but - oh my God YES - she hands her phone to me. My heart is pounding as I look down at the screen and see she has Twitter notifications. I tap on the icon. She has over 15,000 followers already. I stifle a laugh. I don't know her very well but I have a feeling she will freak when she sees this. Oh how I wish I could be a fly on the wall when she realises.

I exit Twitter, and sneak a look at her. She's staring out the passenger window, deep in thought. My heart drops as I realise her battery is on 1%. FUCK! I need to be quick.

My palms are sweating as I go to her contacts and quickly punch my number in. What should I save it as? Harry? Not clear enough. It's gonna have to be Harry Styles. I'm nervous, because she doesn't have a password on her phone. If this falls into the wrong hands it will be horrendous.

My head is telling me I am taking far too many risks with this girl, but my thumbs defiantly type my name into her phone. Save.

Phew. My hands are literally shaking.

I hand the phone back to her.

"I don't think there's anything wrong with it," I say, hoping my voice isn't giving me away.

She frowns at me. My heart drops again and I quickly look away.

"Really? Why do I keep getting Twitter notifications then?" she asks.

Phew. I smirk and side-glance her. "Maybe you have a new follower or something." I kind of want her to realise what I mean, just so I can see her reaction.

"Are you taking the piss out of my 3 Twitter followers?" Her face is straight but I can tell she's half kidding. Her expression makes me laugh out loud.

"Not at all. Scout's honour!" I was never in the Scouts. Oh well, she doesn't know that.

"Were you even a boy scout?"

Damn.

She's now looking at me with narrowed eyes. She's really funny. I cant help grinning again.

"Well, no... but I'm telling the truth."

Her phone suddenly makes a sound and we both look at it as it switches itself off. We both sigh - Jess probably in frustration, and me in relief that I got my number in there before it died.
