It was a sunny Saturday Morning when Joshua decided to share a piece of his childhood with the Seventeen members. He had chosen a special dish carrot cake, a recipe passed down from his grandmother. The members gathered in the kitchen, their excitement palpable as they anticipated the cooking lesson.
Joshua, wearing a bright apron and a warm smile, stood at the center of the kitchen, surrounded by an array of ingredients. The countertop was cluttered with flour, sugar, carrots, and various . He began by explaining each step of the recipe, his voice filled with enthusiasm.
"Alright, everyone," Joshua said, clapping his hands together. "Let's start by grating these carrots."
Mingyu, always eager to help, took charge of the grating while Joshua demonstrated the technique. As Mingyu worked, Joshua leaned in close, guiding him with gentle advice. The others watched and listened, some trying to contain their giggles as Joshua's sweet demeanor and helpful tips were met with playful teasing.
"Careful, Mingyu!" Jeonghan teased, sneaking up behind Joshua to wrap his arms around him. "Don't let him overwork."
Joshua laughed, his cheeks turning pink as Jeonghan's embrace lingered. "Hannie, stop it! I need to concentrate," he said, trying to focus on the next step.
Wonwoo, standing at the other end of the kitchen, was busy measuring out the flour. He glanced over, catching Joshua's eye, and flashed a playful grin. "Should I sift this flour, or just toss it in and see what happens?"
"Definitely sift it!" Joshua called back, trying to keep his tone serious but failing to suppress his amusement.
Seungkwan, ever the joker, used the opportunity to sneak a handful of flour and sprinkle it lightly over Joshua's shoulder. Joshua yelped, turning around to see Seungkwan's mischievous grin.
"Hey! Not fair!" Joshua exclaimed, laughing as he wiped the flour off.
The kitchen was soon filled with the delightful chaos of cooking flour clouds, carrot shavings, and the occasional splash of milk. Hoshi and The8 were busy mixing ingredients, their competitive spirits evident as they tried to outdo each other in the speed of their stirring.
"I bet I can mix faster!" Hoshi challenged, vigorously stirring his bowl of batter.
"Not if I can help it!" The8 shot back, his whisk moving in a blur.
Jun and Vernon were in charge of cracking eggs and measuring out spices. Jun expertly cracked the eggs while Vernon struggled a bit with the nutmeg, his face scrunching up in concentration.
"Jun hyung, how do you crack these so cleanly?" Vernon asked, looking at the egg shells in frustration.
"It's all about the technique," Jun replied with a grin, showing Vernon the perfect crack.
Joshua decided it was time for a bit of fun. He took an egg, holding it in his hand with a mischievous grin. He approached the bowl where Scoups was busy preparing the dry ingredients. With a quick move, Joshua cracked the egg on Scoups forehead, letting the contents drip into the bowl with a soft plop.
Scoups froze, his eyes widening in surprise as the egg yolk and white slid down his face. The kitchen erupted in laughter.
"Joshua!" Scoups exclaimed, wiping the egg off his forehead and laughing along with the others. "You got me good!"
Joshua couldn't stop laughing either, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "I just couldn't resist! It was too tempting."
As the batter was poured into the baking pans and slid into the oven, the members took a break. They cleaned up the mess, with Joshua, Woozi, and Chan sweeping up the flour while Mingyu and Seungkwan wiped down the counters.
"Thanks for being so patient with us, shua hyung," Mingyu said, giving him a gentle kiss on Joshua's forehead. "This has been really fun."
Joshua smiled, his heart full as he watched the members work together. "I'm glad you're all enjoying it."
An hour later, the aroma of baking carrot cake filled the kitchen, making everyone's stomachs rumble in anticipation. When the cakes were finally done, they were golden brown and perfectly baked.
"Time to taste!" Joshua announced, setting the cakes on the counter to cool. He sliced generous pieces for everyone and watched eagerly as they took their first bites.
The room was filled with appreciative murmurs and satisfied sighs. "This is amazing, Shua hyung," Chan said, his eyes wide with delight. "You're a fantastic cook."
"Yeah, you've outdone yourself," Seungkwan added, his mouth full of cake. "This is better than I imagined."
Chan, who had been busy helping Seokmin with the cleanup, came over and took a piece of cake. "You've really outdone yourself. This is delicious!"
Woozi, who had been observing the chaos from a corner, finally tried a slice and smiled. "It's perfect. You've turned a simple recipe into something extraordinary."
As they sat around the table, enjoying the meal, Joshua felt a deep sense of contentment. The members' praises were not just for the delicious cake, but also for the joy and warmth he brought into their lives. Their laughter, playful gestures, and the way they cherished the moment made the day unforgettable.
Joshua looked around at the smiling faces of his boyfriends and felt grateful. This cooking class had been more than just a lesson in making carrot cake, it had been a celebration of their bond, filled with love and shared happiness. And as they savored the last crumbs of the cake, Joshua knew this was a memory they would all cherish for years to come.
