I'll Keep You Safe (Sonadow)

*Sonic's POV*
"Something wrong?" I asked as I walked with Shadow to the park, Sage walking between us, since she did not want to get in the stroller.

"Someone is watching us." Shadow said in a whisper.

"Someone is-" I gasped and shouted in pain as I got shot in the arm. Shadow grabbed Sage and used himself as a shield while he moved us out of the way.

"Are you okay?" He quickly asked, examining my bleeding arm.

"I will be. Sage. We need to get her to safety." I said as I made Shadow keep holding her. "Eggman wants me, I should not be holding her, would just create a bigger target." We were crouching behind a dumpster in an alley.

"Call the others." Shadow ordered even though I was already sending out a signal and called them. Some of them answered, some of them didnt but I knew they would show up anyway. No matter how broken up the team was at the moment, they would still show up.

"Sonic!" I heard a whisper kind of shout from behind us, I turned to see Knuckles crouching towards us. "What the hell is she still doing here?" He asked, obviously angry.

"He attacked while we were on our way to the park." I responded but I can already feel the anger start to grow between all of us.

"Come out!" I heard Eggman laughing and saw the X tornado flying above us, it started shooting somewhere in front of us. I looked at Shadow concerned knowing we didnt have time to take Sage anywhere.

"What do we do?" I mumbled.

"What you should have done months ago, give her to the foster parents." I looked behind Knuckles where Amy was now standing, her hammer summoned.

"Shadow! Sonic! Where are you?" We heard Rouge shouting, she sounded exhausted and even angrier than both Knuckles and Amy.

We couldnt waste another second, both Shadow and I couldnt continue listening to them and we didnt have the time for this anyways. Shadow kept Sage in his arms. Using one to hold her and the other to hold his pistol and shoot some bots that were starting to get closer.

"I am so tired of hearing everyone say we cant do this!" I shouted at both Knuckles and Amy who ran beside us to help Tails, Silver, and Rouge.

"Because you know we are right!" Amy shouted.

"What is she doing here?" Rouge gasped as she landed between Shadow and I, focused on the bots that were coming from her direction.

"He attacked us while we were out, we didnt have time." Shadow growled, clearly getting frustrated with everything.

"You should have listened!" Amy slammed her hammer on the ground making me lose balance and trip from how close she was to me.

"Maybe if you stopped scolding him every 5 seconds he would have at least listened to other options, Amy!" Tails shouted back at her.

"Everyone needs to calm down! We need to keep her safe at all costs! We cant let her take her!" Silver reminded us.

"Sonic and Shadow clearly got this!" Knuckles shouted back earning a glare from both of us. Sage was hugging Shadow, hiding her face and crying.

"Shut up!" Amy swung her hammer at Knuckles.

"You b-" Knuckles growled and grabbed the hammer, throwing it away from her making robots get to her. Silver used his powers to levitate them and toss them away from her.

"Guys!" Rouge said as she pointed the pistol at Knuckles. "Stop-" She shot by accident when Metal clawed her arm, the bullet barely scraping Amy.

"Rouge! Pay attention!" Shadow growled and turned to grab the pistol away from her.

The team was fighting against each other now as robots kept trying to get to us. I was fighting with Amy, Knuckles with Rouge and Shadow while Tails and Silver fought a bit further from us. It got out of control so quick, anger getting the best of us and clouding our judgement, not letting us properly think on what we were doing or realizing what was happening around us.

"Its working." Eggman laughed, I heard him but I chose to ignore him until Metal Sonic launched at me. Amy gasped and tried to get to her hammer but failed as a robot had grabbed it and was swinging it back at her. Shadow and Rouge were focused shouting at each other to realize what was going on, while Tails was attacking Silver for absoluletly no reason.

"Finally! Her powers are strong enough and you didnt even notice. I knew you wouldnt." Eggman laughed, Shadow was now paying attention, letting Rouge and Knuckles fight, it seemed like we were the only ones who were listening to him. Our friends kept fighting against each other, Metal wasnt even trying to attack me now but he was grabbing my quills and making me look at Eggman to hear what he was saying.

"What the hell are you talking about?!" I shouted.

"Anger makes you lose control. Clouds your mind, doesnt it?" Eggman said as he looked at me. "Too bad you cant control it when your own emotions are being enhanced."

It was as if my world shattered, as if the floor was removed from underneath. I was stunned, speechcless, shocked. Sage. She had enhanced our emotions all this time? Was anything I felt real?

Shadow wasnt moving, he was frozen as he looked down at the baby girl he held in his arms. He was feeling the same way I felt. Everything we felt had been a lie, hadnt it?

Sage had used her powers before we were even aware she had any. When I first saw her, I instantly made a connection with her that should not have been. If I had just let go of her, if I had just listened to the others, then we wouldnt be here now.

Was I really attached to her like I thought I was?

Was everything a lie?

Was I really in love with Shadow?
