A Darker Love

Chapter Five- Sandwiches

School was actually enjoyable for the first time in my whole life. Me, Kayla and Caleb were goofing around in PE, we suppose to be playing hockey but it was much more fun to imitate the instructor, a fat balding man who looked like he had never played hockey in his life and pretend that the hockey sticks were brooms.

"Stop clowning around you three! Defend! Defend" He screeched at us in his deep, posh voice.

"What are you doing young lad!" I said to Caleb in a deep voice. "Get that stick out of between your legs and defend! Defend!"

"But sir, I want to be the best quiddich in the world, sir!" He said in a posh english accent, jumping about.

Kayla laughed. "Hold on guys, big Bob's coming over and it looks like he wants to eat us."

"No way! He's either a Finely or a Trent." Caleb laughed as we watched him waddling over, shouting about something called defending.

"Nope, that's too posh. He's more of a Trevor."

We couldn't stop laughing, it was like we were drunk on happiness. We called him Trevor or just Trev under our breaths as he told us off for not defending. Then, moments later he started shouting at us again.

"Attack! Attack!"

"I thought you wanted us to "Defend! Defend!", sir?" Caleb smiled at him and tried to act as innocently as possible as he flushed a deep, dark red and me and Kayla spluttered with laughter.

He said that hockey was over after about 5 minutes of us playing a game of who could saying Trevor and getting louder each time we did. Me and Kayla went to the girls showers and told Caleb we'd meet him for lunch outside the changing rooms. We showered and continued to play "The Trevor Game" until Madison, one of the most popular girls in our years told us to shut up.

"Seriously, Sam. Shut it! I know you think your all cool now because your friends with the new guy but your not. I think he just thinks your a retard and feels sorry for you."

"At least he actually talks to me, he doesn't give a toss about you or padded bra and extensions."

Everyone gasped, even I was quite shocked I had said it aloud myself. Kayla grinned like I'd just won the lottery for her, she was so proud.

Madison glared at me with her judgy blue eyes. "Well see who he wants to sit with for lunch." She gave me a dirty look, tossing her blonde hair so I could get a close up of the extensions glued into her scalp.

Me and Kayla grinned at each other and laughed, what a stupid cow.

We got dressed and then went out the door to see a lone Caleb leaning on the wall waiting for us. We grinned at him but then I saw a flash of bleach blonde extensions cut in front of me and to up to him.

"Hi." She had "forgotten" to do two of the top buttons on her shirt and was practically pushing her boobs into him.

"Umm, hi."

"I'm names Madison, but everyone calls me Maddy. What to sit with us at lunch? Then you won't have to sit with losers like those two." She giggled, tossing her hair.

"Hi Maddy. I'm good, thanks." He gently pushed past her and walked over to us, muttering Trevor and making us laugh.

She looked at us with a face like thunder, also as red as the hockey instructor no one had ever said no to Madison Helburg before. I think I actually saw her shaking and balling up her fights as we walked away from her and went out the front door to get food. Then my phone buzzed and I saw a text from Isaac:

Wait 4 me? Ur dad is keeping class back

Hurry up im starving

Dont blame me, blame ur dad :P

Get us at the front door in 2 mins or were leaving

"Hold up, we need to wait on Isaac." I stuffed my phone back in my pocket.

Kayla groaned. "Can he just meet us there? I could eat a horse I'm so hungry."

"I could eat a Trevor I'm that hungry." We all howled with laughter, nearly falling over until we looked over and saw Isaac staring at us looking confused and kind hurt.

We walked to the cafe playing the Trevor game and trying to explain it to Isaac. He tried to join in on the joke but I knew he wasn't really feeling it. I wanted to join in with Caleb and Kayla but I could only do it half-heartedly because I knew Isaac was in pain. I think he eventually got use to Caleb and let his guard down when we were eating lunch as he started talking to him and asking him questions.

"So, when did you come to Stonewell?" Isaac bit into a sandwich, egg and cress was always his favorite.

"Last week, my uncle lives here so I thought I'd stay with him for a while."

"Where's your parents?" He quizzed him.

"They died when I was little."

"Aww, my sorry Caleb." Kayla touched his arm.

"It's okay, I never really knew them."

"That sucks man, sorry to hear it."

"Anyway, let's not let it ruin our lunch. So what do you guys do for fun? Besides making fun of hockey instructors and eating sandwiches."

"There's a the annual Stonewell bonfire on tonight, Kayla's dragging us to go if you want to come." I said, looking at him and wiping the crumbs off my face.

"Sure, I'll go if you guys are going." Caleb grinned and looked at everyone, his eyes lingered on mine for longer than anyone else and the heat came again..

"Great." Isaac said with an edge of sarcasm to his voice. What the hell was his problem?
