The rest of the school day was fun, but nothing else really happened apart from me getting evil death glares from Madison's minions. Me, Kayla and Caleb were mostly in the same classes so we joked about and laughed about Trevor, it was a time when I felt truly happy. I went home on the bus with them and Isaac was unusually anxious, he kept fidgeting and he looking really flustered.

"You okay?" I eventually asked him.

"Yep, fine." He tried to give me a convincing smile but I saw right through it.

"C'mon, you can tell me anything." I smiled at him.

"Here's my stop, i'll see you at the bonfire." He sprinted off the bus and went into his house like there was a bomb inside that only he could stop.

I sighed, what was up with him today?

Caleb walked me home once we'd said goodbye to Kayla, it was nice to talk to him by myself.

"Are you excited for the bonfire tonight?" He asks, hands in this pockets.

"Not really, Kayla's basically dragging me along. I'm not really good in social situations."

"I kind of got that vibe off you, you couldn't even look at me when we first met." He laughed softly.

"Shut up! Your the once who kept staring at me from across the room, you creep!" I laughed and elbowed him.

He laughed. "Well, when I see a pretty girl I can't help but stare."

My heart pounded in my chest, my ribs the only thing keeping it in place. I tried to laugh casually but it came out wrong. We got to my house and he walked me to the door.

"Well, I'll see you tonight." He smiled.

"See you. Thanks for walking me home and the cheesy flirting." I grinned at him.

"No problem, text me when your there and I'll meet you."

"Okay, bye!" I opened my door and walked inside.

"Bye." He walked down the path and gave me a little wave as walked away.

I closed the door and slide down it, heart still thumping uncontrollably. Holy shit, what is wrong with me?

I got changed into clean skinny jeans and little vest top, I brushed my hair, redid a tiny bit of makeup and pulled on some ankle boots with little heels. I was just about to grab my leather jacket and go out the door when I heard Dad cough behind me. I turned around like a guilty teen trying to sneak out.

"Where do you think your going?"

"I'm going to the annual bonfire." I smiled innocently.

"Who with?" He crossed his arms.

"Kayla and Isaac." I didn't want to tell him about Caleb, not yet. He was only okay with Isaac because he and Isaac's dad saw each other in the grill a lot for drinks.

"Will there be alcohol at this party?"

"Dad." I walked over to him. "It's just a bonfire with my friends, I'll be fine."

He put his hands on my shoulders. "Be careful, okay? And don't do anything stupid."

"You know me Dad, I'm always responsible."

"I know you are." He sighed." Take the some of your medication with you just in case, and their only for you. If anyone asks you to give them some you say no, okay?"

"Anything else?"

"Be careful around boys, if there's going to be drink they'll be a lot of very drunk boys hanging about. Always stick with Kayla and if there is drink, right not to drink too much. I don't want to be cleaning up your puke."

"Okay, Dad."

"Promise me you'll remember all this stuff." He looked into my eyes with own, they were sad and full of concerned.

"I promise, I'll be very careful." I gave him a reassuring smile.

"Okay." He gave me the bottle of meds and pulled me in for a hug. "I can always drop you off, if you want."

"Nah it's fine, Kayla's mom said she'd drop us off."

He released me and ruffled my hair. "Have fun okay, but not too much fun."

"I'll be fine Dad, I promise." I shook the bottle. "And I always have these for back up."

A honk beeped from outside and my phone buzzed. It was Kayla's mom.

"I need to go know, will you be okay without me?"

He laughed. "Now you sound like a parent. Go have fun, I'll be fine with beer and tv."

"Bye, love you." I kissed his cheek and grabbed my jacket.

"Love you too."

I walked out the door and went into the car, Kayla was giving me a big, lipsticky grin when I sat in the seat.

"Ready to go?"

"Yeah, what's with the make-up?" I whispered.

"See? Even Sam thinks that it's too much!" Kayla's face sunk and she scowled.

"Hi Chanelle." I smiled at Kayla's mom in the mirror and see smiled back.

"It's nice to see you again Sam, how's Chris?"

"He's good, not feeling well at the moment though."

"Well, tell him I said hello. I was hoping to bump into him at the Grill but I haven't seen him lately."

"Yeah, it's just a cold or something."

She nodded. "The cold is a sneaky little devil, no matter how hard you try you always end up getting it in the end."

We reached the park where the bonfire was and I texted Caleb that we were there.

"Well, have fun girls. I'm sure your Dad has told you to be careful Sam so this is mostly for Micaela..." She started spinning almost the same speech that my Dad did to me, only Kayla wasn't allowed any alcohol. "Look out for each other girls, be safe." She hugged up both with misy eyes and then got in the car and drove away.

"You don't think it's too much, do you?"

"What?" I looked up from my phone, Caleb was on his way and Isaac was already here.

"The make-up, mom was nagging me about and now I'm thinking about washing it all off."

"No, it's nice. I was just surprise cause you never really wear make-up."

"I know, I wanted to look good for tonight." She smiled, eyes shining with happiness.

"Why?" I looked at her. "Wait. Do you like someone?"

She tapped the side of her nose, blushing a bit.

"Oh my god, you totally do! Who is it? Do I know them?"

She tapped her nose again. "You'll find out."

I hated when she kept secrets from me but I left I didn't question it. I put the meds and my phone in my jeans pocket for safety.

I looked at Kayla, she was checking herself out in a compact mirror. "Ready?"

"Let's go for it."

We walked through the park gates and saw the biggest bonfire I had ever seen. We stood there in awe of it, mouths open and scanning every inch of the party. There was so many things to do an it looked amazing. I breathed in, this was going to be fun.
