Sabrinna was in the middle of wiping down the kitchen counter, her thoughts lingering on the conversation she had with Prime the night before.
They hadn't gotten back together, not officially. It felt as though they were circling around the inevitable, slowly untangling the mess of misunderstandings.
She sighed, feeling a mix of hope and uncertainty.
Sandy's laughter filled the living room, her small giggles a reminder of the present moment.
Sabrinna smiled to herself as she glanced over to where her daughter was playing with her toys, lost in her own little world.
After making sure everything was in order, Sabrinna decided to scan the pantry and refrigerator.
Both were stocked to the brim with everything she and Sandy could need. She didn’t even need to go to the grocery for the next few weeks.
Prime really thought of everything.
As she wiped her hands on a towel, ready to head back to Sandy, she heard a loud bang coming from the front door.
Her body tensed immediately. Someone was trying to open the door, fumbling hard with the doorknob, and then came the knocking—no, more like banging.
Someone was angrily trying to get in.
Her heart raced, and she quickly looked through the peephole. And there she was—Rafael.
“Of course,” Sabrinna muttered to herself, her jaw clenching.
The audacity of Rafael, showing up here of all places.
Anger surged through her as she stood there, watching Rafael continue to slam her hand against the door, clearly furious about something.
Sabrinna took a deep breath. Hindi pwedeng makita ni Sandy ‘to.
She turned away from the door, walked over to Sandy, and gently picked her up, smiling at her little girl who was oblivious to the brewing storm outside.
“Sandy, maglaro ka muna sa room, okay?” she said softly, carrying her daughter into the bedroom.
She placed Sandy on the bed with her toys and gave her a kiss on the forehead before walking back to the door, her heart pounding with both fury and anticipation.
She cracked her knuckles and prepared herself for the confrontation she knew was coming.
Sabrinna opened the door swiftly, causing Rafael to momentarily stumble, her hand still mid-bang.
“Anong ginagawa mo dito?” Sabrinna’s voice was cold, her eyes locked on Rafael with a piercing glare.
Rafael didn’t hesitate to snap back.
“Well, well, well, look who’s all comfortable in my man’s house. Akala mo ba makakawala ka sa akin? You’re just a guest here, Sabrinna. I am the one who belongs here!”
Sabrinna crossed her arms, leaning against the doorframe.
“Talaga? You belong here? Funny, kasi parang wala naman akong nakikitang bakas ng pag-aari mo dito. Actually, wala kang kahit ano dito.”
Rafael’s eyes flared with anger.
“You think you’ve won, don’t you? You’ve always been desperate for Prime. You left him once, and now bumabalik ka ulit? What kind of woman are you?”
Sabrinna’s lips curled into a sarcastic smile.
“Oh, now you want to talk about being a woman? The same woman who lied to me, pretending to be someone’s wife, just to keep me away from him? Kung sa bagay, masarap nga naman mag-imbento ng kwento, no?”
