CHAPTER FOURTEEN ; YOU TRULY DON'T HAVE A HEART, DO YOU, SIM?
Coach Na gathered the girls back into the rink, skating over to them. The girls looked down the line, counting out each member: and still lacked their Captain. It's been making them uneasy these past few days. A game was coming within the next week, and without Sowon, there was no chance they'd make it. Narae has taken the place of temporary Captain, working harder in place for her best friend. The girl has yet to see her and has been texting Sohee, making sure she is still alive.
"Alright, before we end the mandatory practice for today, which means you can go out and do whatever you want," Coach Na pulled out her phone and clicked on an app. "I have a text from your captain that she wanted me to share with you."
"Sowon!?"
"She's still alive!"
"How is she, coach? What has she been up to?!"
"What happened to her, is she–"
"I promise you, the text will answer all the questions you have for Sowon," Coach Na said, using her finger to follow all the words. "She said that she's still alive and doing okay, and she hopes that you've all been training well under my supervision, and hopefully Narae's too. She'll be coming back the moment she gets the chance, and she's trying to figure out when that will be."
Narae licked her lips, her grip tight on the stick. "She made a big mistake in her rivalry with Jaeyun that caused him to have people mess with her and... to break her skates."
"What!?" The team was outraged. Everyone knew how much those skates meant to Sowon. It was the memorial value that always caused Sowon to deny buying new ones and they hated that it was taken away from her.
"She said that you guys would definitely freak out, but that she deserved it. Sowon said that the team going against theirs misunderstood Jaeyun from one of his teammates, and they took it too far. She's already reprimanded them, apologized, and paid for their bill in private."
Narae was getting riled up. Sowon was doing that thing where she took too much accountability, and Jaeyun was still blindsighted, hating on her. She was the only one who truly knew that Sowon didn't have the money to be doing that. She must've asked for money from Sohee, and Narae knew she hated doing that. "She hopes you won't do anything irrational with this information and that she'll be back to answer any other questions you have about her absence when she's back. Until then, please wait for her."
