CHAPTER THREE ; AM I SPECIAL, RYU?
"I don't typically dress up for parties. You know this, Narae!" Sowon complained as she stared at herself in the mirror, tugging at every strand of fabric that hugged her skin too tight or the wrong way. She was wearing a tight off-shoulder and some jean shorts, but borrowing her best friend's clothes was obviously the wrong way to go. She turned to her sister who leaned against the doorframe, flailing her arms out. "Sohee, please convince Narae to let me look a little more casual. I look like I'm... I'm going to kiss someone!"
"Do you not want to? I'd take the chance while I'm at it if anyone's willing to kiss you," Ryu Sohee. Currently in university, but she decided to start a little later to focus on her blossoming career as a sports host. If she truly wanted to, she could quit getting her four-year degree and stick to her two-year, but she wanted to get more money one day. Sowon bit her cheek, hating her sister's words. "I'm being serious. By the sound of it, nobody wants to get with you–so this outfit will be just fine."
"My shoulders look like they're ten times bigger! I look like a feminine man!" Sowon screamed into her palms. "Listen. I know this all sounds like I'm insulting myself, but seriously. I know I'm semi-attractive, and this is not flattering. At. All."
"That's what you think, Sowon!" Narae reasoned, gawking at her suddenly attractive friend. "You'd be surprised, but off-shoulders are so~ your thing. If I was one of the girls at Hanseong, this would definitely confirm my girl crush for you. Too unfortunate I'm dating my lovely boyfriend, who is now outside, so we should get going."
Sowon panicked, ready to take off that damned shirt in front of them. "No, really, I–!"
"Sowon," Sohee eased, a glass of wine in her right hand as she reached for the jean jacket with her other. "Here. But, seriously, only use it if you absolutely, most certainly need it. You're gorgeous. If you already have a reputation for being inexperienced, then good! You can shut down the boys who want to hit. If you find a good guy, it gives off a good first impression. I have faith in your judgment."
"I'm not looking for men..." She muttered, forcibly accepting the jacket as defeat and moving past her sister's defined body. "Goodbye, Sohee. Remember to tell Mom and Dad that I'm–!"
