CHAPTER TWENTY-SIX ; ONE PUCK AFTER ANOTHER.
"I'm going to kill that bastard," Narae and Natty sat in the bathroom of their room, both of them contemplating murder. Sowon was sitting on the porch, her eyes puffy from crying all night. She was debating even picking up a cigarette, but then she'd figured she would sob if it tasted like shit. "How could he walk away from her and fuck it up that bad? Is he fucking mental? Was he seriously just using her?"
"No, there's no way," Natty was flabbergasted. How could all that sappy talk suddenly become him walking away from her after kissing her? "He meant it when he said he liked her. He came to our game and bought her ice skates. He... fuck, this doesn't make sense. I feel like we need to talk to him, but I don't think I'll make it through a full five seconds without punting him across South Korea."
"He–" The door rang. Narae snuck out, seeing Sowon holding her head on the porch, unable to hear anything but her unavoidable overthinking. It was Sunoo and Coach Choi, both invited by Narae.
"Hello. Why'd you–"
"Both of you get the fuck in here!" They all squeezed into the small bathroom, Narae locking the door behind them. Yeonjun and Sunoo sat in the bathtub, and the girls remained in their places, Narae telling the story. "Do you guys not find this fucked?"
"He kissed her and just... walked away?" Yeonjun was going to murder him, not as his coach, but as his possible in-law. How dare he hurt his adopted little sister! "I thought he liked her. God, what was he thinking?"
"Is he not ready?" Sunoo questioned, trying to be reasonable. "There's no way he isn't, though. He looks like he's been wanting to confess, and if he didn't want to continue, then why didn't he just say he wants to take things slow?"
"A lot of questions we don't have the answer to," Natty bit her lower lip, sighing. "Fuck. We have to leave in an hour, and they're going to see each other on the buses. What do we do? Do you think he's going to try and talk to her?"
"Yes," Yeonjun nodded his head. "Jaeyun is typically confrontational and has been very gentle doing so with her. I think he's going to realize he made a mistake and try to talk to her about it. Will she be willing?"
