56. Unfair Duty

As if someone had stopped time, Jungkook was frozen in place, unable to even breathe. It was a very brief moment, but Jungkook could feel the resentment in Taehyung's eyes, and it's making him even more unable to say anything.

At that time, Jin passed in front of him and covered him for a brief moment, and if he hadn't done so, Jungkook would have fainted out of self-blame and regret. Jungkook could barely breathe and looked at Jin's back as he approached Taehyung.

"Tae, are you okay? I was really worried-" Jin said happily and stretched out his arms to hug Taehyung. But, when he saw Taehyung turn his head slightly and take a step back, he immediately withdrew his arm. 

Jin was seething with anger inside as Bogum, who was standing behind Taehyung, smiled mockingly at him and Jungkook as if he were the winner. Jin's eyebrows furrowed involuntarily, but he quickly put on a calm expression. "It doesn't look like there's anything to worry about you. Well, would you like to tell me now? Why did you come all the way here on the weekend, accompanied by an pestiferous guy?"

"I have been concerned about the condition of my fiancé's dog. He has been worried about the dog and has not been able to sleep well all night. I know it's rude to come without contacting you on the weekend, but please, allow my fiancé to meet his dog." Bogum wrapped one arm around Taehyung's shoulder and politely asked Jin.

Jungkook glared at Bogum, barely suppressing the anger that threatened to burst out at any moment. Bogum's actions were clearly intentional. Jungkook wanted to mercilessly cut off Bogum's hand that was on Taehyung's shoulder, but the sight of Taehyung not even looking at him was making it impossible for him to even say a word. Seeing Taehyung like that was tearing his heart to pieces.

"Right now, Yeontan's guardian is Jungkook."

"..............?!!" 

Jungkook looked at Jin in surprise. His face revealed his confusion and doubts about Jin's unexpected words. And it was no different for Taehyung and Hoseok. 

Only then, Taehyung frown his eyebrows and turn his gaze to Jungkook. As far as he knew, everything he had wasn't really his. Maybe that was why he desperately wanted to meet Yeontan after hearing from Hoseok that Yeontan was his pet. Therefore, Jin's words that Yeontan's current guardian is Jungkook made Taehyung instantly angry and sad.

"That's ridiculous!" Taehyung shouted impatiently. "He's mine. He's a gift from Hobi-hyung, and definitely mine!" Taehyung was really upset, as if the only one in the world that belonged to him had been stolen.

"Oh, Oh~ hey~ baby, don't worry. No one dares touch what's yours." Bogum pulled Taehyung closer to him and whispered in his ear. Although it was just a whisper, he spoke loud enough for Jin and Jungkook to hear.

Jungkook felt as if the blood in his entire body was flowing backwards. Until yesterday morning, he was immersed in happiness, dreaming of a future with Taehyung. Taehyung was in his arms and he was willing to do anything for him. But, seeing him in someone else's arms was something Jungkook could never handle. Moreover, that guy is Park Bogum, the one who made Taehyung tremble in disgust. 

Jungkook's heart broke at the thought of how much Taehyung would blame himself if he remembered what kind of person Bogum, who was holding his shoulder right now. But should he be thankful that Taehyung doesn't know about him, at least at this moment? Jungkook gritted his teeth at the sight of Bogum looking straight at him while holding Taehyung's shoulder tightly as if bragging to him.

"I don't know why he's your baby, but in order to become Yeontan's guardian, he has to fill out some paperwork." Jin spoke in a businesslike tone, as if ignoring the tension that was filled there. As if by coincidence, he stood in front of Jungkook and looked at Taehyung with his arms crossed in front of his chest. "If you want that, make an appointment over the phone tomorrow and come back. This place is closed today, so you can't see him today!" Jin spoke politely but coldly. As he saw tears welling up in Taehyung's eyes, Jin tried not to swayed by his tears. To be honest, he was very dissatisfied with Taehyung who came there with Bogum.
