The gang was getting near to the Battle Pyramid, which was located in the forest area outside Pewter City.
"Max, are you sure we're getting close to the Battle Pyramid in a weird place like this?" Ash asked, confused and worried.
"Pika." Pikachu agreed.
"Oh yeah, we're getting really close." Max confirmed.
"We're in the right direction, Ash. My Rotom phone says so." Cora added.
"If you two are sure." Ash commented.
The gang soon saw what looked like the top of a dark gray pyramid overlooking some trees.
"That must be the Battle Pyramid." Cora confirmed.
"Let's go and get our final symbol." Alain said.
"Let's get this championship going!" Ash cheered.
"Don't forget, after Cora, Alain and Ash win this, we're heading to the Grand Festival right away." May reminded them happily.
"Hey, the way I feel, you won't be waiting too long. I'm going to win this match in no time." Ash bragged.
"Pika pika!" Pikachu agreed.
But just as the gang walked on, they suddenly fell down a hole and they got trapped in some sort of chamber. Everyone rubbed their sore limbs after they landed.
"Is everyone okay?" Cora asked, rubbing her elbow.
"Okay is not what I had in mind." May whined, rubbing her butt.
"I wonder if this is one of Team Rocket's pit traps." Max pondered, rubbing the back of his head.
"No Max, I don't think so." Alain said.
Alain and Brock looked at the walls and saw ancient pictures and writing.
"It looks like we are in some ancient ruins." Brock said.
"(Indeed. But what kind of ruin is it?)" Aaron asked.
{A/N: Aaron - Lucario}
"How do we get out?" May asked, looking up at the hole and everyone followed her sight, "We fell down a long, long way."
Alain spotted a light in a tunnel ahead of them, "We'll have to follow the tunnels to find an exit." He replied.
"Good idea." Max agreed.
So the gang walked through a tunnel.
====
While walking down a tunnel, the gang saw a stone statue of a Pikachu.
"Hey, it's Pikachu." May smiled.
"Pika." Pikachu smiled.
"Wow, it's awesome." Ash smiled.
Ash was about to touch it, but Alain quickly stopped him before he did touch it.
"We must not touch anything." Alain warned.
"I'm not gonna hurt it, Alain." Ash assured him, but Alain pulled him away before he could try and grab the Pikachu statue again.
"I've read the stories and seen the movies about ancient ruins like this, and they all have horrible booby traps. So we must be careful while walking down these ruins and that also means no touching anything, Ash." Cora warned with a stern look at Ash who smiled sheepishly at Cora with nervousness.
"Well said young man and lady, you shouldn't touch anything here." A male voice advised.
The voice belonged to a man, and he was dressed as an archeologist. Cora recognized him as Brandon, the Pyramid King.
