Chapter 25: The Ice Queen

Hi y'all

I am so sorry for the lack of inactivity. 

Classes have started up for me (I'm in week three now) and I have just been really busy with all of that. 

With classes having started, I will be able to upload more chapters, it's just the progress might be a little slower. 

But I do promise that I am not discontinuing or putting AOTA on a hiatus, there will still be updates, just not as much as during the summer.

This also goes for TSOS (my other oc story), I will upload as I have time to

A navy rainwing stood in the snow. His metallic wings were curled in close, trying to keep himself warm, as his form shivered. He then turned and walked back to where a tall skywing and an emerald leafwing sat. Heat radiated from the skywing and the snow below him was melted away. The emerald leafwing looked up seeing the navy rainwing arrive back.

"Any sign of the palace, Fallen?" The emerald leafwing, Jade, shivered scooting closer to the firescales skywing, Vesuvius, trying to use his heat to warm up.

The navy rainwing, The Fallen One, shivered again as he came closer, sighing in relief as Vesuvius' heat helped warm him up. "I couldn't see anything in all this snow."

Vesuvius snorted a flame. "We have to be getting close. According to the scrolls, the icewing palace is in the heart of the kingdom, where it is the coldest. As we have been traveling, it has been getting colder and colder by the moment."

"So, are we lost?" Jade flicked her tail, adjusted the fur blanket Finch had given her to protect her injured arm from the cold.

"I fear we are." Fallen sighed, shaking his head. He then went to take a step forward, hissing as he went crashing down into the snow.

"Fallen!" Jade ran over, trying to pick Fallen up. She then grabbed his metallic arm, yelping and jerked back. "Your arm is so cold! And there are small ice spikes!"

Ice had began spreading along Fallen's metallic parts, to the point where the joints had completely stiffed and he couldn't move them at all.

"Fallen! You need to get up!" Jade continued pulling on Fallen, desperately trying to get the rainwing back on his claws.

"I'm trying, Jade. I can't move any bits that are metal. The ice has completely made it solid. Jade, you and Vesuvius should just keep going. Find the palace."

"VESU! Come melt the ice!"

Vesuvius came running over, and placed a claw on the iced-covered metal. The ice melted, but the damage had already been done to the metallic limbs.

"Fallen, please. I'm not leaving you! I love you!" Jade curled up around Fallen, few tears trickling down her face.

"Jade, it's okay. Just go."

"NO! I'm not leaving you. I'll carry you!" Jade then tried to pick up Fallen, but the navy rainwing was too heavy for her, and to balance his weight she had to put pressure on her injured arm, which caused pain.

"Jade, I'm too heavy. It's causing you pain and I don't want to cause you pain. Just go with Vesuvius."

Vesuvius walked over and curled his wings around the duo, creating a dome of heat around them. "There, that should last for a while, till the storm strengthens and even my heat isn't enough."
