Chapter 17: Captured and Hurt

Jade lifted her head as she stirred, a long yawn sounding from the emerald leafwing. She turned and looked, next to her. Fear filled her eyes as she noticed that Second was not next to her. Shooting to her claws, Jade looked around the small cave. There was no sign of Second in it at all. "Where is he? What if we were found in the middle of the night and he was taken?" Jade then began to pace, as she called out Second's name. "Second! Second, where are you? Please answer me!"

No answer came, making Jade's fear rise even more.

"Jade?!" A voice then sounded.

Jade breathed a heavy sigh of relief, as Second came into the cave's entrance. "Where were you?"

"The pain from my injuries woke me up earlier. I couldn't fall back asleep, so I decided I would try to find some food for us, for when you woke up. As I was fishing, I heard you yelling, thought something was wrong, and came back immediately." A soft hiss of pain sounded from Second.

As Jade looked at Second, she gasped as drops of blood could be seen on the ground below Second. "You're bleeding! What happened?"

Second sighed, pulling back his wing, that he had been covering his shoulder with. The wound on his shoulder was bleeding heavily, as well as many of the cuts along his body. "I was running to get back here and I tripped and reopened many of my wounds."

"Get in here. We need to get the cleaned and wrapped now."

Second trotted into the cave. He sat down and Jade grabbed some bandages they had, and quickly set to work wrapping the wound on Second's shoulder. As they did so, Second hissed in pain. Jade would hear Second hiss, and try to apply as little pressure as possible.

"There. That should stop the bleeding and protect it. Now, we need to get a move on. We can't stay here. Dark no doubt has scouts hunting for us as we speak. I don't know anywhere to go, do you?"

Second flicked his tail, then nodded. "I actually do. Dark doesn't know this place exists at all. Only three dragons do, myself, Fallen, and Cadet."

"What are you talking about? Why do only you, Fallen and Cadet, of all dragons, know about this place?"

"Because, it's Cadet's secret hideout. When she first started rebelling against Dark, she wasn't ready to reveal yet, and wanted to learn more secrets. So, she set up a secret base of operations. After the attack in Possibility, where I lost Chosen and my friends to Dark, when Fallen and I were running from Viro and a virabot squad. Well, a cloaked dragon had pulled us into an alleyway and hidden us. That was Cadet. She brought us to her hideout. Actually, she was the one who told Fallen where to find you, and if you were okay. With Cadet full rebelling and against him, Dark still has no idea of her hideout, so we can go there and lay low."
