"It was you, wasn't it?" one detective asked, his voice steady. "You were the one responsible for the so-called accident that killed Aera's father."
Seokmin's eyes flickered with something dark, but he tried to maintain his composure. "I don't know what you're talking about."
"Cut the act," the detective snapped, slamming a stack of evidence on the table. "We have proof of your involvement. You wanted to inherit everything, so you orchestrated the fire in the building where Jimin's parents worked, and you manipulated the accident that took Aera's father's life. Admit it."
Seokmin's façade crumbled under the weight of the truth. He let out a bitter laugh, leaning back in his chair. "Fine. Yes, it was me," he confessed, his voice cold and devoid of remorse. "I needed them out of the way. With Jimin's parents gone, I could take control of their assets. And Aera's father... well, he was just collateral damage."
Aera and Jimin watched the live feed from a secure location, their faces pale. The truth, though expected, was still a crushing blow. The man who had wreaked havoc on their lives was sitting right there, confessing without a shred of guilt.
"It was always about power and money," Seokmin continued. "I did what I had to do to secure my place. It's a ruthless world, and only the ruthless survive."
"But you didn't act alone, did you?" the detective pressed, not willing to let go of the lead on the mastermind. "There's someone else behind you."
Seokmin smirked, eyes gleaming with a dark amusement. "I told you, I'm just a pawn. The real player... well, good luck finding them."
Despite his attempts to shift some of the blame, Kim Seokmin's direct involvement in the crimes was undeniable. The court process was swift, given the solid evidence and his own confession. He was found guilty of multiple charges: murder, arson, and conspiracy.
The judge's voice was firm as she delivered the sentence. A collective sigh of relief passed through the courtroom, yet the atmosphere was somber. Aera and Jimin were there, along with BTS, as the gavel struck, sealing Seokmin's fate. While justice was served, it was a bittersweet victory. The wounds left by his actions were deep and would take time to heal
As Seokmin was led away in handcuffs, he threw one last glance at Aera and Jimin. "This isn't over," he said with a twisted smile. "The one who truly runs the show is still out there."
Jimin watched him go, a mix of emotions swirling within him. Aera stood by his side, silent but strong. They had won this battle, but the war wasn't over. Somewhere, someone else was plotting, pulling the strings behind the scenes. But for now, they had achieved some measure of justice for their loved ones.
And as they walked out of the courtroom, surrounded by their friends, they knew they would face whatever came next together.
