Today was my babygirl's 6th birthday, and I was so excited for her to have fun. Things have been so weird and tense lately, and we needed this.

She's going to be shocked when she sees I got a few of her friends from New York to come down.

Plus, Angie officially moved back, so she's coming too.

My mom's Uber just got here, so I opened the door for her, and she gasped at my stomach.

"Oh my goodness," she said, rubbing my belly before pulling me into a hug.

"I missed you so much," I said.

She smiled and walked in, putting her bag down on the floor. She glanced at the kitchen and noticed the breakfast spread I had prepared for her and the balloons.

I was still decorating, but I wanted everything to be perfect. Lauren had already taken Amora to get her toes done.

"I cannot believe how big you've gotten," my mom said.

"I know, right? I'll be five months next week," I replied.

"Are you excited to know what you're having?" she asked.

"I hope it's a boy," I said.

"Thought of any names?" she asked.

"I haven't really thought of anything... me and, um, Bey haven't talked about it," I admitted.

She gave me a look and asked, "And how are the two of you?"

I shrugged, trying to avoid the conversation. "We don't talk, Mom. What do you want me to say?"

"So what about Amora? Or the new baby?" she pressed.

"They're taken care of. That's all that matters," I said, brushing her off.

She sighed, clearly not satisfied with my answer. "I think you two need to have a real conversation. This is too much."

I shook my head. "We both said some things the last time we spoke. I don't even know if she's coming today."

"Do you want her to come?" she asked.

"I mean, yes. Amora loves her, why wouldn't I?" I said, though my voice wavered.

"Because of what you said to her. You're the one who told her not to be in Amora's life. She doesn't know what you want," my mom pointed out.

"Mom, it was obvious I didn't mean that," I said, the guilt bubbling up again.

"That's not for you to decide. You hurt her feelings," she replied firmly.

"Well, she hurt mine by taking my daughter to therapy without telling me," I countered.
