May 16, 2026"You packing like you're leaving for years. You trying to leave us?" I asked Amora as she stuffed more things into her bag.
She was staying over at her friend Marli's place for the first time, and honestly, I was nervous. It was the first time she was staying away from us like that.
Amora giggled. "No, Mama, but I have to be prepared!"
I smiled. My baby girl had just turned 7, and she was growing up too damn fast.
"You think you got everything?" I asked, watching her zip up her bag.
"Yeah, I think I'm good," she said.
"You got your medicine, right? Your mom already told Marli's mom about it."
Amora gave me that little eye-roll she does. "Mama, I know. I gotta take it in the morning and at night."
"Okay, just making sure," I said, helping her with her bag.
We walked downstairs, and Nicki was on the phone, juggling that while fixing breakfast for the twins. My big girls were already eight months old, and it felt like time was flying by.
Ceraiya was still the chunky one at 22 pounds, and Romi wasn't far behind at 20. Their little personalities were showing more every day, and it cracked me up.
Nicki noticed us coming down and wrapped up her call. "Lauren, I'll hit you later, boo," she said, hanging up.
She walked over to me, gave me a kiss, then smiled at Amora.
"Good morning, Mommy," Amora said.
Nicki smiled back. "Morning, pretty girl. You excited for tonight?"
Amora nodded. "Yeah! It's my first sleepover!"
Nicki smiled, handing the twins their food, which they were finally old enough to pick up on their own. Nicki made them eggs, avocado toast, and strawberries. Watching her be a mom was the cutest thing.
"You hungry, Mora?" Nicki asked, glancing at Amora.
"Yeah, but no strawberries, Mommy," Amora said.
Nicki raised an eyebrow. "You want your grapes then?"
Amora nodded. "Yep!"
I couldn't stop watching Nicki as she moved around the kitchen. She caught me staring and gave me a little smirk.
"What?" she asked.
I walked up and wrapped my arms around her. "You're such a cute mom," I said, leaning in for a kiss.
She blushed and kissed me back. "Thanks, baby," she said.
I grinned. "Let me get another one."
She pushed me back, laughing. "Don't start!" she joked, pointing at me.
