Grace, at the hospital. Why was she at the hospital. Buster was looking out the window and was just barking at cows. "Shut up Buster"! I never heard Greg so upset and moody. He was driving so fast. Honking the horn and yelling at other cars. Buster and I were quiet for the rest of the ride. I just wanted to know what had happened to Grace.
Uncle Greg parked the car in front of Lake View Children's Hospital. He put a leash on me and Buster. I didn't like the leash. I tried to chew it off but Greg scowled at me.
When we got in from the entrance. A nurse informed Greg that there were no dogs allowed but Greg just ignored her and headed to the corridor where the patients rooms were. He searched for the room number 147.
He finally found it. He quietly knocked on the door. Mrs. Carter answered the door and let us in. She had huge tears in her eyes. She threw herself in Greg's arms. "She's here". she whimpered. The room was big, there was a small corridor at the entrance. At the end of the corridor you had to make a right. When we officially entered the room. There were a bunch of people gathered around a bed. Some of them I knew. There were Grace's friends and her relatives but why was she lying in that huge bed?
Everyone made way so that Greg could have a look at her. Buster seemed scared around people so he was slightly whining. When I could finally take a good glimpse at Grace I couldn't believe what I saw. She had serum and a oxygen tank attached to her. Her face was all purple and was covered in bandages. Underneath those bandages there were stitches to mend the cuts.
"She got hit by a car". Her grandmother began. "She saw a dog across the street and thought that he was Belker. Her voice was trembling.
"She ran over to him but didn't see the car coming and then"..."He knows mom"! Mrs. Carter interrupted. Grace's eyes twitched. she let out a few coughs. She tried to get up. Mr. Carter let her sit up. He quickly wiped away his tears.Grace shook her head a little and her eyes landed on me. "BElKER"!
"Come boy". She was acting as if nothing had happened. Greg put me in her arms. She hugged me and kissed me and I kissed her back. She was crying and laughing at the same time.nShe kept cuddling and hugging me. Everyone was glad to see her happy but they were also worried.
"I won't let you go again". YGrace whispered.
