I pushed the book out of the way. I lied on her chest to feel her heart beat. It didn't feel really strong. It was actually really weak. I didn't really know how much time there was left.
Grace was just slowly moving her head. The doctor brought in this weird machine that was beeping every second. "It shows her heart rate". the doctor explained to me as if I were afraid.

An hour later the entire family came back in. They had tears on their faces. They wrote Grace little messages and all read them out. Grace's eyes were still closed.
It was time for Mr. Carter to read his message to Grace.

"My dear Grace, over our father daughter relationship while I was trying to teach you instead you taught me so much more and because of you my down's are always going up. You were strong and passionate that wouldn't want to be pushed down. I will always have you in my heart and will still keep loving you. a Heaven will be happy to have you"!
Grace slowly opened her eyes. "Thank you". she murmured.
The machine let out a straight long beep. Grace's eyes closed and her head fell to the side. Everyone knew what it meant. Her mother kissed her one last time. I was still in her lap and was not going to leave her, but I knew that in the end of the day I had to. Before Mrs. Carter picked me up I also gave a Grace one last kiss.

2 days later we were at Grace's funeral. There weren't any other dogs. Her parents read the messages they wrote for Grace and said their prayers. I wish that I could make a speech as well. After the funeral Mr. and Mrs. Carter decided that I was going back to my old home. Before they went Uncle Greg stopped them.
Buster was with him. "Please Angela take Buster too, they 're brothers, he will still have someone to love".

They said okay and took both of us home. A month past since the funeral and Buster was getting use to his new home. Mrs. and Mr. Carter still had to continue they're daily routines. Me and Buster would just play around.
I would try to wish the best for Grace and I knew that she was up in heaven smiling. If she was happy. I was happy.
