As Jungkook remained hidden in the tree, he lost track of time, captivated by Jin’s laughter and movements. He didn’t notice when the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a golden glow that quickly turned to twilight.
Jin let out a long sigh, standing up with a hint of frustration etched on his face. “Great! I just wasted my entire afternoon here,” he muttered, packing up his mat and brushes with a huff. The vibrant colors he longed to capture still swirled in his mind, but they remained stubbornly out of reach.
As he began to walk away, Jungkook felt an instinctual pull. His wings, almost acting of their own accord, fluttered behind him as he followed. It was fortunate that humans, except for the smallest of creatures, couldn’t sense the presence of angels or demons. So, Jin remained blissfully unaware of the celestial being tailing him closely.
As Jin strolled along the path, whistling and bobbing his head to an invisible tune, he chatted animatedly about his schoolwork, rambling about assignments he had completely forgotten. “How could I forget that project? Ugh, my life is a mess!” he said, shaking his head in disbelief.
Jungkook floated silently behind him, completely absorbed in every word. He couldn’t help but chuckle at the antics of this human. The way Jin animatedly expressed his frustrations, how his eyes sparkled with passion even while complaining—it was endearing. Each tiny dance step and exaggerated gesture captivated Jungkook further, stirring something deep within him.
He’s so... alive, Jungkook thought, his heart swelling with affection. The simple joy in Jin’s movements made him feel lighter, and for the first time, he found himself laughing freely, the sound echoing softly in the night air.
As they walked, Jungkook kept his distance, still hidden from Jin’s sight. But every moment spent following the human felt like a precious gift, and he knew he wanted to cherish this connection.
How did I never notice this before? Jungkook pondered, his heart racing as he watched Jin continue to express his thoughts out loud, his expressive face illuminating the dimming surroundings.
With every step Jin took, Jungkook felt an undeniable urge to draw closer, to reach out and bridge the gap between their worlds. The desire to protect him grew stronger, filling the angel with a determination he had never known.
As Jin continued his cheerful ramble, he remained blissfully unaware of the shadow creeping behind him. A drunken man, stumbling and slurring his words, had taken an interest in Jin, his intentions far from innocent. The night was deep, and the streetlights cast long shadows, creating an atmosphere that made Jin an easy target.
However, Jungkook's keen angelic senses were alert. He felt the shift in the air, the ominous intent radiating from the drunken follower. Instinctively, he focused his attention on the man, annoyance flickering within him.
With a casual flick of his finger, Jungkook sent a gentle wave of his magic toward the would-be assailant. The man stumbled back, confusion spreading across his face before he fell into a corner, succumbing to sleep almost instantly.
Jungkook couldn’t help but chuckle softly at the sight. How careless, he thought, watching the drunken man sprawled out, completely oblivious to the danger he posed.
Did he really think he could follow someone like that? Jungkook shook his head, amusement dancing in his eyes. The absurdity of it all made him feel lighter. He turned his gaze back to Jin, who was completely unaware of the close call.
The angel's heart swelled with relief as he continued to follow Jin, now even more determined to ensure his safety. Watching Jin’s carefree nature, Jungkook felt a deeper connection growing, the desire to protect him intensifying with every step.
