Jungkook landed softly on the golden clouds of heaven, his bare feet touching the ground that once felt like home. But something was off. It had been so long since he’d last been here, and now, the atmosphere was unusually still, almost too calm. There was no warmth, no lighthearted energy like before. It felt cold, unwelcoming.
He glanced around, searching for the familiar faces of his fellow angels. His brows furrowed when he noticed rows upon rows of heavenly beings, all standing in perfect formation, their heads bowed low in a show of submission. Their wings were folded tightly behind them, their expressions solemn. No one looked at him—except for two faces.
Jungkook’s heart tightened when he saw Jimin and Jhope among the crowd. His closest friends, his brothers in battle and peace, were standing there with their heads bowed like the rest. But their faces told a different story. Unlike the others, they wore expressions of worry, fear, and pain...for him.
Before Jungkook could speak, before he could even take a step toward them, a sudden surge of pain shot through his back. He gasped, his body jerking violently as he felt his wings begin to burn. It was as if they were being electrocuted, each feather crackling with searing agony.
"Arghhh!" Jungkook growled, his knees buckling beneath him. He fell to the ground, clutching his chest as the pain intensified, his wings convulsing behind him. His once beautiful, radiant wings felt like they were being ripped apart from the inside.
He looked up through gritted teeth, his eyes finally landing on the source of the punishment.
There, on a grand, white throne, sat the lord of heaven, Kwang Dong Wook. His expression was as cold as the air around them, his face filled with a deep, burning disappointment. His golden eyes narrowed, focusing on Jungkook as if looking at a traitor, not one of his most loyal angels.
The lord didn’t move. He simply watched Jungkook writhe in pain, his voice heavy with judgment as he finally spoke.
"Jeon Jungkook..." Dong Wook’s voice boomed through the heavens, reverberating off the clouds. "You dare return to heaven after violating the sacred laws?"
Jungkook’s chest heaved as he struggled to stand, his wings trembling behind him from the residual pain. His breath was ragged, but he raised his head, staring directly at the lord, unflinching.
"I’ve done what I had to do..." Jungkook muttered through gritted teeth. "I love him... and I will not apologize for that."
A collective gasp rippled through the crowd of angels, but no one dared to move or speak. The tension in the air was thick, almost suffocating, as everyone awaited the lord’s response.
Dong Wook’s eyes darkened further, his grip on the armrests of his throne tightening. "Love?" he spat the word like it was venom. "You’ve destroyed the balance of heaven for the sake of a human? You, the greatest of our heavenly warriors, have become nothing more than a lovesick fool."
Jungkook’s fists clenched at his sides, his anger bubbling beneath the surface. "He’s not just any human. He’s my human. He’s everything to me."
Dong Wook rose from his throne, his massive wings spreading behind him like a curtain of light. He descended the steps toward Jungkook, his towering presence casting a shadow over the fallen angel.
"You’ve broken the highest law, Jeon Jungkook. You’ve interfered with the mortal world, violated the sacred order of heaven. Do you understand the consequences of your actions?"
Jungkook’s eyes blazed with defiance. "I don’t care about your rules. I care about him."
The lord of heaven stood before Jungkook, his expression unreadable, though a flicker of something like anger passed through his gaze. With a wave of his hand, a sharp, burning pain surged through Jungkook’s wings once more, forcing him to scream out, his body convulsing as if it were being torn apart.
