As they continued walking, the air around them was quiet but comfortable. Jin kept glancing up at the sky, his eyes filled with a silent longing. The sun had just set, and the sky was a deep indigo, but no stars had yet appeared. He seemed lost in thought, and Jungkook couldn’t help but notice how peaceful and beautiful Jin looked in that moment.

“You like looking at the sky?” Jungkook asked softly, breaking the silence but keeping his tone gentle.

Jin glanced at him, a little surprised by the question, then nodded. “Yeah, I do. It’s calming. I love watching the stars, but they haven’t shown up yet tonight.”

Jungkook looked up at the same sky Jin was watching. “They will. Sometimes you just have to wait a little longer for the stars to appear.” He smiled, but inside, his heart swelled. In his eyes, Jin was the brightest star, and nothing else compared.

Jin chuckled softly, almost to himself. “Yeah, I guess you’re right. I just... I don’t know why, but lately, I’ve been hoping to see them more. It feels like... maybe they’ll have an answer for me.”

“An answer?” Jungkook tilted his head slightly, curiosity slipping into his voice.

Jin hesitated before answering, as if weighing his words. “It’s silly, but... after that lab incident last week, I’ve been thinking a lot. About life... about things I can’t explain.” He looked up again at the darkening sky. “Sometimes, I just wonder if there’s something more out there, you know? Like, maybe there’s a reason for everything.”

Jungkook’s heart tightened as he listened. Jin was unknowingly talking about him—about the presence he had felt during that fire. Jungkook wished he could tell him everything, but for now, he had to keep his secret.

“I think... you might be right,” Jungkook said carefully, his voice almost a whisper. “Sometimes, things happen for a reason, even if we don’t understand them right away.”

Jin looked at him, his expression softening as if those words resonated with something deep inside him. “You think so?”

Jungkook smiled warmly. “Yeah. Sometimes the answers we’re looking for are right in front of us. We just have to wait a little... just like waiting for the stars.”

Jin glanced up at the sky again, his eyes searching. “I hope so,” he whispered, more to himself than to Jungkook.

As they walked in silence for a moment, Jungkook could feel Jin’s calm presence beside him. He had waited for this—for the chance to be close to him, to talk to him. But now that they were here, he found himself wanting more. He wanted to be the one Jin looked to for answers, the one who stayed by his side when he searched for those silent stars.

Jin broke the silence again, this time with a lighter tone. “Do you like the stars too?”

Jungkook’s eyes softened. “I’ve been watching them for a long time,” he said quietly. “But tonight... I think I found something more beautiful than the stars.”

Jin blinked, caught off guard by the sincerity in Jungkook’s voice, and a faint blush crept onto his cheeks. “W-what?”

Jungkook just smiled, not answering directly, and turned his gaze back to the sky. His heart was pounding, but he kept his composure. Jin was so close, and though he didn’t know it yet, he was already in Jungkook’s orbit.

As they continued walking, Jin couldn’t help but steal glances at Jungkook, his heart fluttering slightly from the warmth in his words. For the first time in a while, Jin felt a strange comfort around someone new, and without fully realizing it, he found himself relaxing more with every step they took together.
