As Jin rushed into the house, he was greeted by the familiar, warm aroma of his mother’s cooking. “Mom! You won’t believe what happened at school today!” he exclaimed, excitement bubbling over as he dropped his backpack near the door.
Mrs. Kim looked up from the kitchen, a smirk forming on her lips. “Oh? Did you finally charm a teacher into giving you an A?”
“Not quite! There was this guy, Minyung, who helped me with my homework. He’s really nice!” Jin beamed, his cheeks slightly flushed. “And then, during gym class, there was almost a world war between two groups because of a basketball! You should have seen it! I tried to break it up, but I ended up stuck in the middle!”
Mrs. Kim raised an eyebrow, playfully crossing her arms. “Oh really? Stuck in the middle? Sounds like you were quite the hero today! Did you save anyone? Or did you just get knocked over?”
“I got knocked over a little,” Jin admitted sheepishly, scratching the back of his head. “But I stopped a fight! Well, sort of. The teacher came in at the last second, so I guess I had some help.”
“Help from the teacher or help from your charm? Maybe Minyung is the real hero!” she teased, a mischievous glint in her eye. “Was he cute? You can tell me, sweetheart. I won’t tell anyone!”
Jin laughed, his face growing even redder. “Mom, stop it! He’s just a friend helping me with schoolwork!”
“Just a friend, huh?” Mrs. Kim leaned in closer, waggling her eyebrows. “So, you’re saying he’s handsome enough to help with homework? I see how it is.”
Jin rolled his eyes, a smile still plastered on his face. “Can we please not make this a big deal? You know I’m terrible at math! I just want to pass!”
Jungkook hovered just out of sight, watching the two with an intense gaze. His jaw tightened as he listened to Jin speak fondly about someone else. Why is he talking about someone else? Doesn’t he know... I’m the one who’s always there for him?
The more Jin smiled and laughed, the more Jungkook felt a possessive heat building inside him. He shouldn’t be thinking about anyone else... not when I’m right here! His fists clenched, and as the lights in the room flickered ominously, he felt his emotions threaten to spill over.
Jin glanced around the room, brow furrowed in confusion. “Did you feel that? Mom, our house is haunted!”
“brat, it’s not haunted!” Mrs. Kim shot back, laughter escaping her mouth. “What are you talking about?”
"Seriously. Look how the lights are flickering."
“Shut up, brat. Just stop with the ghost stories!” she retorted, but there was a smile on her face that betrayed her amusement.
Jungkook couldn’t take it anymore. The weight of his feelings and jealousy was suffocating, and he fled out of the house, trying to calm himself. He’s mine... I’ll make sure no one else gets close. The determination surged within him, fiery and relentless.
After a playful dinner filled with teasing remarks and banter about Minyung, Jin finally bid his mom goodnight. He had laughed so much that his cheeks hurt, and his stomach was full from the delicious meal she had prepared. His mother waved him off, still chuckling about Jin’s "mysterious new friend" from school.
"Goodnight, my little pencil stick! Get some rest, maybe you’ll dream about this Minyung and come tell me more about how handsome he is tomorrow!"
Jin groaned, shaking his head as he headed to his room. “Mom, stop teasing me! Minyung’s just a nice guy. You’re reading way too much into it!”
