Later that day, Jin found himself in the serene school park, nestled beneath a sprawling tree. The sun filtered through the leaves, casting dappled shadows on the ground. He felt an odd mix of calmness and confusion swirling inside him, still grappling with thoughts of the strange dream and the fleeting image of the white figure during the chaotic fire incident.
As he sat cross-legged on the grass, his sketchbook rested on his lap, the pages blank and inviting. Jin stared at the empty space, feeling an urge to express the emotions tumbling in his mind. “Angels... do they really exist?” he murmured to himself, the question hanging in the air like a whispered secret.
With a gentle flick of his pencil, he began to sketch, his hand moving almost instinctively. He remembered the figure from his dream—a tall silhouette clothed in white, with majestic wings that seemed to shimmer in the light. He couldn’t recall the face, but that was okay; the essence of the being was enough for him.
As he sketched, each stroke of the pencil brought the figure to life on the page. He focused on the wings first, making them expansive and ethereal, as if they could lift off the page and soar into the sky. The feathers looked soft and delicate, each one a testament to the beauty he had witnessed in his dream.
Jungkook, hovering just above Jin, watched in awe. He had never seen Jin draw anything like this before, and it filled him with a strange sense of pride. Jin was capturing something profound—something that had taken form in Jungkook’s heart as well. But the angel felt a mix of emotions: joy at seeing Jin's talent and a prick of insecurity, knowing that this vision of beauty was inspired by him yet remained a mystery to Jin.
“Does he really see me as an angel?” Jungkook thought, feeling a warmth spread through him. He could feel his own desire to be close to Jin intensify, but also the frustration of being hidden in the shadows, unable to reveal himself.
Jin continued to draw, lost in the moment. As he shaped the angel's form, he found himself smiling, a sense of wonder filling his heart. There was something comforting about the idea of angels—guardians watching over him, keeping him safe. It was a thought he had clung to more than he realized.
“If angels do exist,” he mused aloud, “I hope they are kind and gentle, like the one in my dream.”
As the sketch began to take shape, Jin felt a flicker of hope. Perhaps there was more to this world than he understood, and maybe, just maybe, he was not as alone as he often felt.
Jungkook, hearing Jin's soft voice, felt a swell of determination. “I am here, Jin. Always watching, always protecting. You’ll never be alone.” But for now, he remained silent, hidden above, cherishing the moment as Jin poured his heart into the drawing.
Time slipped away, and the afternoon sun began to dip low in the sky, painting the horizon in hues of gold and orange. Jin didn’t notice the world around him; he was lost in his art, his spirit lifting with every line he drew.
As Jin continued sketching beneath the tree, lost in his thoughts, he suddenly felt a chill run down his spine. He looked up just in time to see a girl standing beside him, her presence unexpected and a bit overwhelming.
“Hi! I’m Mhi,” she chirped, her short hair bouncing slightly as she grinned brightly at him. “I saw you today in class. I don’t know why, but you caught my attention. Can I sit down? I wanna talk!”
Jin, caught off guard and unsure how to respond, simply nodded. He didn’t want to be rude, even if the sudden intrusion made him a bit anxious.
“Your name is Jin, right?” Mhi continued, settling down beside him with an air of enthusiasm. “Today was a great disaster in the lab, yet you survived like magic! That’s so cool, right?”
