By all means, he should've been dead. Regal may have Kamehamebruh'ed his dad's ass, but it still hadn't been enough. His soul had broke after Gaster used his black hole whatever the hell that was on him... and yet, the sun was shining overhead, the leaves shook in the gentle breeze, birds chirped and he could smell fresh flowers nearby. It was peaceful. Was this the afterlife? For the first time in what felt like a long time, Regal's tail wagged. He wasn't in pain. He wasn't suffering. He was in control. "Oh! You're awake!" Regal startled out of his relaxed state to look at a woman and a eyeless child. The woman, a [S/C] woman with [H/L] [H/C] hair and [E/C] eyes seemed relieved and verging on excited to see him while the child was completely monochrome with empty void-like sockets that made him bristle with uncertainty. "Welcome to the Omega Timeline, Regal. Divine here has been waiting for you to wake up." Regal sucked in a breath as his soul started to flutter. "i- how am i alive?" The two humans looked at each other before Divine stepped closer. "I... found your eye."

It almost seemed impossible, if it hadn't happened. You were a survivor of what Core had dubbed the Phoenix Incident of Epicferal. One of very few that had been in the Ruins at the time. The entire Underground outside had been burned to ash. Nothing had remained as you searched for survivors. Nothing but two yellow orbs. At the time, you had no idea what they were, but something in your soul knew you had to keep them. Not long after that, Core had found you and brought you to the Omega Timeline. You tried to settle in amongst the other lost souls within the Multiverse, but something in your soul continued to bug you. Something about the orbs. Well, the left one specifically. When you showed them to Core, they seemed to realize something and brought you back to the remains of Epicferal, only to give you a jacket. Black and yellow, with a black and white soul on the back. "The eye was his, [Y/N]... I think Regal might be calling to you, through the eye." You'd looked at Core in confusion. "Regal? Eye? What-?" Core merely closed your fist over the orb. "Your soul knows what to do."

With the eye and the jacket, you were taken back 'home'. Not much else could have been done at the time, other than pondering what you were supposed to do next and washing the dead skeletons jacket. "Skeleton? How... do I know that he's a skeleton?" Core never said anything but his name to you... well, it wasn't his actual name, his name was Sans but... You gasped softly and looked at the eye accusingly. "Are you feeding me this information?" It was just an eye, though. It did nothing but glow in that sickly yellow light. The days passed as you carried around the jacket and eye, finding yourself to be strangely attached to them, and even missing this person whom you'd never met. It was only under the young oak tree, with the jacket stretched out as a temporary lying spot and the eye held close as your read that something happened. It was like a zap from your [S/C] soul into the eye and you yelped at the jolt before you realized that the eye was pulsing to the beat of your soul, growing warmer and warmer to the touch.

You were frozen in place as the eye landed on the jacket, threads of magic weaving down from it to create a soul. A monster's soul, tinted that same yellow as the eye. After the soul started to beat, the body came next, and right before your very eyes, Regal came to life, curled up in his jacket as if he were fast asleep. You had never run so fast in your life to get Core. And now here you were, staring at him as he listened to your impossible story. Regal blinked, a slight yellow coloring his cheekbones as he glanced away. "uh... thanks, bruh. really, uh, appreciate your stepping up to save me." But... but you knew he was sad. Upset even. He'd risked his life, only for everyone to end up dead anyway. It was depressing. It was aggravating. "Regal?" Sans slit eyelight snapped back up to you. "I still have the other eye. Do... do you think together we could revive that monster too?" Regal's socket widened. "we can. i can. he's my bruh, so it wouldn't be no bruhblem for me, but your my soulmate so-" He froze as he realized what he said and hid his face. You, on the other hand, were clueless. "I'm a what? What does that mean?" Core snickered while Regal whined. "n-nevermind, bruh..."
