"Whatever you do, don't trust Gaster!" Frisk was saying, not for the first time as the two of you headed to the exit of the Ruins. "That skeleton is obsessed with using determination. Says it's to save his son, but once you meet Sans, you'll see that he can't be saved. Guy is nuts-" You had to admit, falling down hadn't been your intention. You were here to investigate the mysterious disappearances that had happened over the years. See if the legends about monsters were as real as the locals said. So far, you hadn't met a single monster yourself, however, you did meet Frisk who claims she'd met all the monster. Several times at that. And there was no one she mentioned more than this Gaster character and his son, Sans. She didn't seem to like them, despite how tragic their tale seemed. A father who's son went crazy. According to them, he went crazy himself, hunting them for their soul and determination. You didn't fully understand it, but you did your best to try anyway. It seemed so far that Frisk was the only one who lived down here, so maybe it was them, who was going crazy.

Upon entering a forest you caught a wiff of cigarette smoke. You and Frisk both turned to see the hooded figure on a randomly placed set of steps, smoke rising from below their hood. "Who the hell..?" Frisk asked as the figure stood up, a thin white something falling out of their lap. Before you could call them over, though, they were right in front of you. Under that hood was a cracked, skeletal face. His golden eye stared intently at you as he dropped his cigarette, took your hand, and kissed your knuckles, all before you could even scream. Instead, you squeaked, blushing involuntary as he pulled you into his side, arm firmly placed around your waist. "Frisk." The skeleton greeted shortly. Frisk narrowed her eyes at him. *"Gaster?!"* She all but shrieked and the character huffed in muted annoyance. "Not quite, though he is a part of me. Just call me Gild, kid." Gild looked down at you with a soft smile. "Gaster made some big mistakes, and I need you and the pretty lady here," he winked, making you blush more, "to help me fix it or we are all gonna get erased."

Frisk didn't like him at all. In fact, she tried to pull you away, but with an angry snarl, you were quickly pulled back into his chest, his rounded golden eyelight now in the shape of a slit. "D o n ' t." Gild growled, and you couldn't begin to understand why he was so unbelievably territorial of you. You'd only just met, after all. "Hey..." Gild froze, his attention snapping down to you with interest. You couldn’t be scared of that look. "Be nice, Gild..." You told him, but you weren’t even sure he was actually listening. Gild seemed infatuated, his gaze intense. Finally, *finally* He sighed and nodded. "Alright, fine. I can do that." He agreed, letting you go. You backed up and went to check on Frisk. "Are you ok-?" Frisk wasn't paying attention the way Gild was though. There was already some sort of tension and animosity between them you couldn't quite describe and you had a feeling this was gonna be a long journey. "Um... where are we going..?" You looked to Gild instead, whom you knew was listening. "We are headed to the C.O.R.E, Gracious, where this whole thing started." Gild replied as his tail wagged slowly behind him.

Frisk kept a distance between Gild while he seemed intent on keeping you close to him. It wasn't bad, per se, but you certainly weren't used to having all of the attention on you. "Gild? Is that... lava?!" Said boneman peered over your head to look at the burning substance. "Seems so. That wasn't there before." You followed Gild over as he created a bone out of nothing and dipped the end in and you both watched curiously as it came back up, unsinged. "Huh..." He blinked and glanced over before pulling one of Frisk's feet out from under her with his tail for her daring to get that close. Frisk screamed as she fell in and you panicked while Gild laughed. "Pfffft- HAHAHAH!!! THAT LOOK ON YOUR FACE!" Frisk was less than pleased as she sat up in the cold lava, though her expression seemed surprised. That didn't seem like Gaster at all... Gild yelped as you smacked his shoulder, his golden eyelight turning white as you chewed him out. "GO APOLOGIZE! FRISK COULD HAVE GOTTEN REALLY HURT IN THAT STUNT!!!" Needless to say, he wasn't going to do that again.

While it was warm in Snowdin, there was lava in Waterfall, Hotland was snowy. You had fun, 'skating' around on the ice and kicking up the snow. Gild watched, but he seemed drained. You wondered in the guy had gotten any sleep since your journey began. You and Frisk both agreed to stop somewhere to rest. The lab had more than enough beds, even if it brought bad memories to both Gild and Frisk. It's not like you knew much about it, though. Neither of them really talked about Sans or Gaster, anymore. You found Gild resting on a couch, one leg up and his tail hanging off. "You're not gonna sleep, are you, Gild?" It wasn't a question. You knew it as a fact. "Maybe if ya lay with me~" Gild turned to his side, propping his face up with a hand and patting the open space. Ok. You had to ask. "You me? What about me has you desperate to have me close?" You asked as you sat down. Gild was quick to pull you down with him and curl around you protectively. "You're my soulmate, Gracious, my better half... I want to love you and protect you always, no matter if we are friends, enemies, lovers... that's just how this works..." He mumbled tiredly. You turned to ask questions because HOLY SHIT that was HUGE... but he was asleep. They would have to wait for now.
