Yeonjun arrived at the barbecue place and Beomgyu showed up a few minutes later, walking up to him.

"Hi Yeonjun."

"Hey, you look cute." He said looking at his outfit. He was wearing a white sweater and ripped blue jeans. He looked like he was wearing a little makeup as well. "I feel underdressed."

Yeonjun was just wearing a gray hoodie and gray sweatpants.

"No no you look good." Yeonjun cocked an eyebrow at him and Beomgyu's face slowly started turning redder by the second. "N-No not like that I-I mean...let's go eat!" He turned and walked inside and Yeonjun couldn't help but laugh a little as he followed him in.

They got a table and ordered what they wanted.

They sat awkwardly, taking occasional sips of their drinks.

"Um...so what do you do? Are you in school or do you work?"

"I take online college classes and I go into my university once a week for workshops. I'm majoring in technical engineering."

"Wow, that's really cool. You like using your hands."

"Yeah I do, a lot actually. I had this dream of working on cars and having my own shop when I was a kid. My parents thought better of me and pushed me towards something else."

"Oh...I'm sorry. I guess we have that in common." He said and the waiter brought them their foods to start cooking.

Yeonjun reached for the tongs but Beomgyu stopped him. "Let me." He said as he started cooking it for him.

"Thanks...so, what about you? You said we have that in common."

He nodded. "My parents have always pushed me to want to be an entrepreneur. Run my own business and take over the world kind of mentality. They think wealth and money is everything but it's not. I value my peace of mind, I love working with children and I always wanted to be a teacher. My parents think otherwise and we argue frequently."

"Sounds like our parents are the same."

Beomgyu nodded. "Yeah, I was closer to my grandparents."

"Me too, I used to live with my grandparents during the summer."

"Me too." They smiled at each other and Yeonjun cleared his throat and looked at the grill.

"You're burning the–"

"Shit! I'm so sorry!" He took it off. "I'll eat this one and make you another."

"Nonsense, the burnt bits are more flavorful. You cooked it perfectly in my eyes." He reached over and ate some of the beef. "Mmmm~" he hummed. "Taste one."

He did and he hummed. "You're right, the burnt bits do add flavor."

"Coming from someone who burns things all the time you learn to love it."

"Not much of a cook huh?" He laughed.

"I could probably figure out how to burn water if left in the kitchen long enough." Beomgyu laughed again and they kept talking.

Beomgyu was nice and Yeonjun could see them being good friends but the fact that he had to pursue him romantically is what made his stomach turn a little. He didn't want to kiss him or anything.

"I'm going to use the bathroom." Beomgyu said as he got up. "Don't cause a fire while I'm gone."

"I make no promises."

He watched him giggle and walk away. While he was gone Yeonjun got a phone call from Taehyun.

"Hey."

"Hey where are you? I thought we were gonna play a few games of basketball."

"With Beomgyu."

"Ohhhhh, how's the boyfriend?"

"Shut up he's not my boyfriend. Beomgyu is fine but I'm not. Things are going well but if he is actually into me and I keep this up won't he want more? I don't want to kiss a guy!"

"Just pretend it's Yeji. Speaking of Yeji how did that go last night?"

He smirked at the thought. "Really well. Flexible girls are the best."

"Gross, stop talking."

"You asked." He looked up and saw Beomgyu walking over. "He's coming back I gotta go." He hung up and Beomgyu sat down.

"The fire department isn't here so I guess you're doing good."

"Quite the jokester today. You're lucky you're cute or I'd whack you."

Beomgyu blushed at him calling him cute again.

"Here, taste." He held some food up with the chopsticks. Beomgyu leaned forward keeping his hair back as he took a bite. Yeonjun watched him and Beomgyu nodded.

"Mmmm, amazing. I love kimchi."

Yeonjun nodded and also got a bite. They eventually left and started walking around together.

"Do you have your lighter?" Yeonjun asked as he took out a cigarette.

"Yeah." Beomgyu took it out and lit his cigarette for him.

"Thanks." They kept walking. "Why do you have that? Do you smoke?"

"No no, not really my thing. I ummm...I have a lot of candles..." he took one out of his bag. "This one is vanilla scented and sometimes when I'm alone in the library I light it. It calms me."

"No wonder you always smell like freshly baked cookies."

He laughed. "Yeah." He put the candle away. "What made you start smoking?"

"It's a stress reliever for me. I used to do sports, martial arts but nothing relaxed me like this did."

"You should try candles. It's healthier."

"I'll keep that in mind."

They walked into a park and the wind was starting to pick up. They looked up and the once sunny skies were starting to turn dark and gray.

"Looks like it's gonna rain." He said and after those words left his lips thunder rolled in.

Beomgyu covered his ears and stopped walking. Yeonjun hadn't noticed and kept walking a few more steps but then looked over and saw he was gone. He turned around and saw Beomgyu covering his ears and closing his eyes.

"Beomgyu?" Then came the rain. A few droplets turned into a downpour. He ran over and grabbed his arm pulling him under a shaded area where the bathrooms were. "Beomgyu?" He said again.

He was trembling and another bang of thunder came through. Beomgyu wouldn't uncover his ears.

Yeonjun pulled his arms away, Beomgyu looked at him with tears in his eyes. He was trembling in front of him.

"Hey!" He yelled over the rain. "I won't let anything happen to you!" He took earbuds out of his pockets and put them into his ears. He turned on a playlist of piano music and Beomgyu finally relaxed. They sat down together and Beomgyu rested his head on his shoulder as he watched the rain.

Yeonjun let him, he didn't mind it at all. It took almost thirty minutes before the downpour finally lightened up enough for them to leave. He let him keep the earbuds in since there was still thunder. He took his hoodie off and was going to put it on Beomgyu but he refused.

"You'll get wet!"

"You need to cover your head."

Beomgyu took his hoodie and lifted it trying to cover both of them with it. They made a run for it into a random building close by.

They caught their breaths and then looked at each other dripping with water before they started to laugh.
