Beomgyu opened the door and smiled as he saw Soobin and Hueningkai.

"We came as soon as we saw your text. You have to tell us everything!" Soobin said as they went up to his room.

"These past few weeks with hyung have been..." he let out a deep sigh. "Everything to me."

"Ooooo I know that look. Beomgyu hyung is definitely in love!" Hueningkai exclaimed.

Beomgyu's eyes widened. "In love?" His face turned red. "Wha-no no, I wouldn't call it...that's not it."

"He's tomato red." Soobin said with a teasing voice. "Admit it."

Beomgyu covered his face and then his ear when they started squealing and laughing.

"Stop it!" He looked at them. "Okay let's say I do like him or...or love—" he cut himself off. "This has happened before. You remember how that went, what if I mess this up? I value our friendship and crossing that line—"

"Beomgyu." Soobin sat down next to him. "You can't let that situation keep you from having something special with Yeonjun. He cares about you, he's always with you and from the way you talked about him I really think he's good for you."

Hueningkai nodded. "I agree. I've never seen you so happy before."

"I am really happy." He smiled a little. "But...I'm not ready to confess. I need a little more time to think. I want to be sure that confessing is worth everything because right now it's not worth it if it means losing him. Promise me you won't tell anymore."

"We promise." They said almost immediately.

"You have our word." Soobin rubbed his back and stood up. "Let's go for lunch, I'm starving."

"Sounds like fun."

...

"You're screwing with us!" Yeonjun's dad yelled.

"You would love for me to have an alternative motive against you right? You think I live my life to plot against you? You fucked me over remember!" Yeonjun yelled back.

"Watch your tone with me." His father was standing in his face and Yeonjun glared up at him. "I gave you everything and we ask this one thing of you and you can't deliver."

"I'm doing what you want! What more do you want from me?"

"We want the contract!" He yelled. "It's been over a month and nothing."

"You are asking me to build trust that takes time but you wouldn't know that would you? You have no friends, you only have mom and she only tolerates you!"

Then it happened. Yeonjun's dad smacked him.

He touched his cheek, his cold hands soothing his stinging red cheek. He could hear his dad yelling and he shoved him but he wasn't listening. It almost like a ringing in his ear and then the anger started rise quicker than he expected. He turned and looked at him.

"Fuck you!" He yelled and shoved past him. He grabbed his car keys, ignoring his dad calling for him. He drove and he didn't know where he was going but he knew he needed to escape because he really wanted to punch his dad in that moment. He needed air, he needed space.

Then he found himself pulling into Beomgyu's driveway. He walked up those familiar stairs, a sense of urgency in his steps. He rang the doorbell and his maid opened the door.

She looked at him and seemed relieved.

"Please wait in the living room. I will get Beomgyu." She said as she walked him over to sit and before she turned to leave he heard loud, muffled voices.

"What's going on?"

She sighed and looked at him. "Beomgyu's parents are a little...disappointed today." She walked away and brought him a water which he accepted.

After several moments Beomgyu emerged from down the hall, quickly walking and wiping his face. He looked up and saw Yeonjun as he was about to head to his bedroom.

"Hyung!" He ran over and Yeonjun stood up holding his arms out as Beomgyu hugged him tightly. He cried into his chest, but relaxed in his arms when he felt his hand cupping the back of his head, running it soothingly.

"I'm here, it's okay." He whispered to him.

Beomgyu eventually stopped and looked at him.

"What are you doing here?" He asked as Yeonjun caressed his cheek and wiped his tears away. "And what happened to your cheek?"

"I uhhh...I also got into it with my parents. Specifically my dad." He gave him a weak smile. "Don't worry about me. Can we leave? Go somewhere private."

Beomgyu nodded and Yeonjun took his hand as they left. They drove to Yanghwa Bridge and watched the sunset together. They stood next to each other, it was silent. Neither of them saying anything to the other. The wind blew gently and Beomgyu shivered a little, tucking a piece of loose hair behind his ear.

He glanced over at Yeonjun, he looked like he was in deep thought but Beomgyu saw the way his lips seemed tightly pressed together.

"Hyung." Beomgyu touched his hand. "You don't have to do that...it's okay to just...let it out."

He took a deep breath and smiled at him. "We had a fight, we've always fought. This is nothing new for me there's nothing to 'let out'." He said. "I'm fine."

Beomgyu continued to stare at him. "...you shouldn't force yourself to smile. I know what it's like to feel like you have to pretend, but you told me that whoever I felt like I needed to be around you, you didn't need it. I don't need a tough Yeonjun, it's my turn to be a shoulder for you hyung."

Yeonjun stared at him, his eyes turning glassy and his face slowly growing red. He turned his head away from him.

"Don't look. I don't want you to see me like this." His voice cracking before the gentle sobs left his lips.

Beomgyu gently pulled him into a hug, rubbing the back of his head soothingly as he did for him earlier. Yeonjun's hands tightened on his body as he pulled him closer if even possible, burying his face in the crook of his neck and that day he learned that Beomgyu's shoulder was the only one he would ever want to cry on.
