Beomgyu stood in front of Sijun with a serious look on his face as he waited.

"He's staying with his aunt." He walked over and wrote down an address on a piece of paper before handing it to him. "Is that all?"

"Not at all." He tucked the paper away. "Yeonjun is hurting a lot because of you. He explained everything to me and I wish I would've listened sooner but I was so upset by the lies he told me, because of you. I can only blame you for how he was but he's grown, he has dreams and he's ambitious. He's sweet and smart, no thanks to you. I won't waste my breath on you, but I hope you enjoy your contract while it lasts."

Sijun chuckled. "It's a contract. They can't break that with us."

"Like I said, your son is smart. Perhaps I do have you to thank for that. You should learn to read your contracts." Beomgyu turned and left while Sijun made a dash for his home office to relook at the contract.

With the address Sangchul sent Beomgyu to Japan with his mother who was fluent in five languages, one of them being Japanese. They were on their way to the airport when Sangchul called. Beomha answered the phone.

"Hi Jagiya~" she answered with a smile before it slowly faded and her hand holding the phone slowly slipped down and fell limp in her lap.

"Mom?" Beomgyu said as he watched her eyes fill with tears. "Mom what's going on?" He picked up the phone. "Dad what's going on?"

"I'm so sorry Beomgyu...your nana..." his voice faded.

"What?" His eyes started burning but he wouldn't believe it. He shook his head and looked at his mother who silently cried next to him. "You're lying...you're lying." He whispered to himself over and over. "I don't believe you."

"Beomgyu take a deep breath. You two need each other, the driver is turning you two around. I'll see you when you get back."

Beomgyu hung up and the car ride was silent. He could hear his mother's gentle sniffles. He was sure she silently cried the entire drive home and when they got back Sangchul was waiting outside. He walked over to the car and opened the door for his wife, he helped her out and she fell into his arms. She shook and small whimpers left her lips before they turned into loud wails. He held her tightly and looked over at Beomgyu who kept sitting in the car staring down at his lap.

"I know jagiya, I know." He whispered to her as he rubbed her back. "The doctor said she didn't feel any pain. She drifted in her sleep."

One of the maids came and tried to help, Sangchul watched her come over and guide her inside saying something about tea being ready for her. He walked over and went to help Beomgyu.

He slowly sat down next to him and closed the door.

"...your mother is gone. You can let it out now." He said to him while staring straight ahead.

Beomgyu trembled, his breath shaky, pained whimpered leaving his left before he let out of a loud scream that turned into loud sobs. He punched and kicked the seat in front of him, not being able to see through his tears before he became to weak to move. Sangchul pulled him into a hug and rubbed his back and it seemed to never end. The tears. The pain.

First Yeonjun and then his nana. He didn't know what to do other than cry in his father's arms until he couldn't cry anymore. When he finally stopped it was silent. Sangchul helped him out of the car and helped him to walk because he did feel weak. He wished he could just slip away.

Sangchul helped him to his room where Beomgyu locked himself away.

"I'm here when you're ready." He said from the other side of the door before going to comfort Beomha.

...

Yeonjun got settled into his aunt's apartment in Japan.  It was a really nice apartment, cozy and warm. He finished unpacking the last box, it took almost a week to get completely settled in. He sat on his bed and stared at the space around him.

He missed Beomgyu.

He let out a deep sigh and rubbed his head. He stared at his phone. Should he text him? He stared at it for a while before he reached for it but paused when he heard a knock.

His aunt smiled at him. "Everything okay?"

"...yeah." He pulled his hand back and sighed. "Yeah I'm fine...I mean—no. I'm not okay." He covered his face.  "Fuck, I miss him."

His aunt walked over and sat down. "Yeonjun, your parents aren't very good at the emotions thing so I'm going to tell you that it does get easier. Give him time, from what you told me he sounds like a real catch and I know he felt the connection. When he's ready, he'll reach out but until then, be painted because you owe him a lot." She kissed the top of his head and ruffled his hair. "I'm making lunch, get washed up and come eat."

He listened and they had lunch and he subconsciously waited and waited for Beomgyu to call or text but he never did. He hated to admit it but he eventually gave up hope and assumed he ruined any chance he had with him which left him depressed for a while. With time and a lot of talking he did his best to get himself back together.

But it was always funny to him, how you blink and a year can go by. A year without him.
