Beomgyu woke up in his bed with no memory of anything that happened after him and Yeonjun danced together. His head was killing him and he threw up after only standing up for five seconds. His maid came and helped him in the bathroom.
"This is embarrassing." He groaned as he hugged the toilet. "Do my parents know?"
"Not at all." She smiled at him as she rubbed his back.
"Is Yeonjun here?"
"He dropped you off, he looked really worried but I told him I would take care of everything."
He groaned again. "Did I blow it? He saw me all drunk and...I don't know."
"Give him a call. I'm sure he'd love to hear that you're okay, but do that after you eat and take some medicine. I already started brewing tea for you. Wash up and come downstairs."
"Thank you Ms. Ahn."
"Of course sweetie." She stood up and left so he could get cleaned up.
He went downstairs and ate breakfast and had his tea. His upset stomach soon going away although his head was still bothering him. Last night, it was unlike him to get that way but there was something about him seeing Yeonjun with Yeji that made him upset. They seemed close and the way she touched him...
Beomgyu sighed and his maid, Ms. Ahn noticed the look on his face.
"Alright, what's wrong?" She asked.
"Can we...talk?"
"Of course." She sat down next to him. "What's going on?"
"I really, really like Yeonjun." He saw the way Ms. Ahn grinned at him. He groaned. "Stop~" he whined.
"Me and the others always talk about you two. You're both cute together, you compliment each other very well. What's the problem?"
"I...I think about what happened back in high school a lot. How much that situation...hurt me. I'm scared about getting hurt and I'm worried about him actually seeing me and not liking what he sees."
Ms. Ahn gave it some thought before answering. "That situation was different. That person, he manipulated you into doing things you didn't want and he made you think of yourself as being worthless. Yeonjun cares for you deeply, the way he looks at you is so precious. You two are perfect for each other and you can't let past situations hold you back from something good. I think you should go for it, I'll be here for you no matter what."
Beomgyu smiled at her. "Thank you Ms. Ahn."
"You're welcome, finish eating."
He did so and after he did, he decided to call Yeonjun but he didn't answer. He assumed he might still be resting and also feeling as awful as he was. He sent him a text.
'Hey, thanks for bringing me home last night. I hope I wasn't a hassle. Are you feeling okay?'
He went about his day but hours had passed and Yeonjun hadn't texted him back. So he texted him again and once more no answer. Beomgyu assumed he was busy and tried not to overthink it.
...
Yeonjun packed a bag and bought a train ticket to go see his grandmother. He had already called her to let her know he was coming, much to her surprise she was happy nonetheless but knew something was wrong. When Yeonjun arrived to her house door she opened it and he embraced her quickly.
"Oh my gosh you've grown!" She rubbed his back. "Oh it's so nice to see you sweetie."
"You too grandma." They stepped inside and she had already made him a meal.
"I'm happy to see you. What's the occasion?"
"I have to tell you something and...and you're gonna be disappointed in me."
She looked at him and gestured for him to sit. He did so and she started making him a plate.
"Mom and dad have their eyes on this growing company and wanted me to seal a deal for them by getting close to their son Beomgyu. And I've been spending time with him and things are...getting serious. Last night he got drunk and told me he likes me and wish we were more than friends but the only reason I'm talking to him is because my parents want to get close to his parents. I feel guilty...because I think I...I think..." His voice faded and he looked down at his lap.
His grandmother sat his food in front of him and then sat down.
"When I met your grandfather my parents hated him because they thought he was using me for status. He wanted a pretty little thing on his arm and your grandmother was a stunning fox back then." She laughed. "Through your grandfather's selfishness I fell for him and when he told me the truth I was distraught. I forgave him after some time and we rebuilt our relationship and were able to move on. I'm not saying what you're doing is right or okay, but sooner is better than later. I think if your grandfather would've taken things too far I wouldn't have been able to forgive him properly."
Yeonjun didn't like her answer, because he feared that it had already gone too far. His phone vibrated again and then he turned it off.
"Ignoring him won't help."
"I just can't face him right now. I need time."
"I know you'll do what's right."
He stayed with his grandma the entire weekend before going back home and when he arrived back to Seoul, he went to the one person he wanted to see more than anything.
Ms. Ahn let him in when she opened the door and he went up to Beomgyu's room. He knocked and Beomgyu opened it, shocked to see him standing on the other side.
"I'm sorry I haven't answered your texts or calls. I went to see my grandmother. I was just so...upset about something and I needed to see her. I'm really sorry."
Beomgyu gave him that same sincere, soft smile and hugged him.
"I'm just happy you're okay."
Yeonjun hugged him back but slowly pulled away and looked at him. "I wanted to stop by...I need to go handle something but I'll come back tomorrow night if that's okay?"
"Of course. Is everything okay?"
"I think so."
Beomgyu walked him to the door and waved goodbye. He drove away and again his heart was racing. He hated that. He hated this feeling of the unknown, not knowing what his actions were leading to or what they might mean once he completed them. It scared him. He arrived to her house and texted for her to come downstairs.
The door opened and Yeji walked out, looking at him unsure of what he was doing. She walked over and stared at him, she didn't like the look on his face.
"I need to talk to you."
"Go on."
"Yeji we've known each other for year and I had a lot of fun with you and I cared about you–I still care about you. Which is why I'm here, telling you that this isn't going to work." Her heart sank. "I can't keep you in the dark and allow you to keep waiting for me when I know I'm not all in. I care about someone else in a way that I can't care about you in that way anymore."
He looked at her and here eyes gathered with tears before she opened her mouth and started yelling.
"Are you fucking stupid?" She snapped much to his surprise. "Do you think after Beomgyu finds out what you did, do you really think he will forgive you? Look past everything? You're a liar Yeonjun! You lied to me and you're lying to him. He will never forgive you!"
Yeonjun didn't say anything and his eyes looked down to his feet.
"You're right and I'm not ready to tell him. I can't deny that I'm a selfish person, I'm spoiled and I don't deserve someone like Beomgyu in my life. He's changing me and it makes me scared but in a way that I like. I want to be scared and be with him." He took a step back and looked at her once more. "I'm sorry for hurting you but I can't do this anymore." He turned and got in his car, ignoring the yelling from Yeji before he drove away.
