HER POV

"I did not expect this from you Jhanvi," we heard dada-sa coming out of the room angrily.

"But listen to her properly once," said dadi-sa walking behind him.

Behind them came Jhanvi and my mother-in-law, who were trying to persuade him.

"No no no, there is nothing left to hear anymore." He said walking to the living room.

Meanwhile, Samrit and my father-in-law joined in listening to the chaos. Well, one thing was good, and that was my father-in-law's happiness with this relationship. He sure took a lot of time getting us impatiently worried however things turned out well. But now dada-sa was all riled up.

It was understandable since he was very excited about this proposal and was kept away from this information.

"Dada-sa at least hear me out again." Jhanvi tried again running around him but he avoided her.

"Ohho stop behaving like a child and hear your girl," Dadi-sa said.

My mother-in-law chuckled and we were all getting confused. Dadi-sa too was calm about this but on the other hand, dada-sa was trying hard to avoid talks over this issue. What was going on?

"Samrit beta, come we will talk outside. My family is not mine anymore." He said and patted Samrit's back once they started walking out of the door.

"Dada-sa don't say that," Jhanvi almost cried and hugged Tejas.

Tejas patted her head while she sobbed.

"What happened? Did he deny it?" I heard my husband.

"No he agreed but.." his mother said.

"But what?" He asked.

"But he's angry that he's not the first one she shared this news with," Dadi-sa said.

And we couldn't believe our ears. He was reacting this way because he wasn't involved and not that Rohit is no more in the picture. Later dadi-sa clarified that he never wanted to marry his kids unhappy. Everyone believed Samrit was a good man and a better choice for Jhanvi. Jhanvi's father was also convinced of their relationship.

"But I have thought of getting them engaged this week. I'm not delaying it anymore." Jhanvi's father said and everyone was very happy and excited.

I looked at my husband and he looked happy too. I wish I could hug him here. Later in the evening, we all started discussing the ritual preparations and the workers started cleaning out our guest rooms since Samrit's parents were to arrive tomorrow for the roka ceremony.

It was all our grandfather's idea. He planned everything about the wedding and also informed Rohit's family sweetly. Had not my husband initiated to talk to his father in a polite manner all this would not be happening anytime soon. Thankfully no scene was created.

Jhanvi and Dada-sa sorted out their issues and later Jhanvi convinced him to prepare for a grand wedding and he happily agreed. We were all so busy with the last-minute shopping and preparations that we hardly got an hour of sleep.

Samrit and Jhanvi's roka ceremony took place at home the next day and it was a beautiful moment to be celebrated. Everything went well and the engagement was announced to be held on the eighth day from today.
