Chapter Thirty one: Move Forward

"His whole body has fused with the train!.....i repeat his whole body has fused with the train!!!!!" shouted Tanjiro to Inosuke who has finally awakened and joined him in battle, it was now up to them to save the two hundred passengers that were at Enmu's mercy.

Enmu's flesh began infesting the Mugen Train's carriages, forming tentacles to kill the passengers, but Inosuke quickly rushed into action.

"Beast Breathing, Fifth Fang: Crazy Cutting!" yelled Inosuke as he cut all of the gross appendages, but outside, more ingrowths were forming and attacking Tanjiro, forcing the Demon Slayer to retreat inside. When Tanjiro made it inside, he was horrified at the extent of Enmu's assimilation with the train. He tried using Moon Breathing, First Form: Dark Moon Evening Palace, to cut the tentacles down but they kept regenerating and growing back. Seeing Tanjiro distracted, cutting something that he can always heal and hoped that he will be able to district Tanjiro long enough to kill him. He was not going to lose to that half-human weakling!, he couldn't wait to see the look of despair on Kokushibo's face, when he tells him that he killed he has killed his son!.

Nezuko and Zenitsu were battling to save the sleeping passengers. Using all of her Water Breathing forms and her Blood Demon Art to fend off the tentacles, until the sheer number of them overwhelmed and restrained her, but fortunately Zenitsu saved her, using his Thunder Breathing First Form: Thunder Clap and Flash, Sixfold. Instantly cutting cut all the tentacles in the carriage. Tanjiro heard the attack and realized that Zenitsu had awakened, though he was still dealing with the regenerating tentacles.

Kyojuro had finally awakened and witnessed the demonic appearance of the train........this sight made Kyojuro so ashamed of himself as a Hashira......he wanted to crawl inside a hole and die. He then attacked with such intense force that it startled Enmu. Tanjiro saw Kyojuro slash the train and damage it enough to force Enmu to take time and heal.

Kyojuro then explained his plan to Tanjiro. Kyojuro himself will guard the five rear-most cars while Zenitsu and Nezuko will protect the front three, while Tanjiro and Inosuke search for the demon's head, telling him that no matter what form the demon takes, Enmu's head must be hiding somewhere. With that Kyojuro rushed out and went to the back of the train. Tanjiro praised Kyojuro for his quick thinking before telling Inosuke the plan. But Inosuke told him that he already knows and he was a little annoyed that Kyojuro had ordered him but he still considered Kyojuro to be awesome despite that.Inosuke had told Tanjiro that the head is located near the front, prompting Tanjiro to leap onto the roof and join Inosuke.

Inosuke had cut through the locomotive's roof with all his might, and when the boar headed swordsman landed he saw the Train Engineer, but Inosuke ignored him to look around for the head, but then multiple tentacles had sprouted from the ground and grabbed Inosuke!, but luckily Tanjiro appeared and cut them all with Moon Breathing,Third Form: Loathsome Moon Chains. Attacking near his head had caused Enmu to let out a terrible shriek and shake the entire train!, and then Inosuke sliced the floor with Beast Breathing Second Fang: Slice, revealing Enmu's neck bone. Tanjiro attempted to cut it with his Moon Breathing, First Form: Dark Moon Evening Palace, but the flesh grew back, protect the neck from the slash. It then formed many new tentacles and spread out, forcing Tanjiro to take the train engineer and retreat to the second floor. The flesh grew rapidly and formed a ring around the front car while protecting the neck bone. Tanjiro told Inosuke to coordinate their breathing together, but eyes appeared in front of them!.

Enmu's new Blood Demon Art, Eyes of Forced Unconscious Sleep, had activated and hit both Tanjiro and Inosuke, causing Tanjiro to slash his neck again in his dream. Though awakened the eyes open and hit him again. Cursing himself for falling under again, he killed himself again and leaped towards the neck bone!. The eyes open again, forcing Tanjiro to commit suicide again. Tanjiro continued to get hit and kill himself until he positioned the blade near his neck despite his eyes being closed, but fortunately Inosuke stopped him before it was to late, Tanjiro still didn't know the full extent of his healing ability he didn't know if he could survive cutting his own neck and his father had always warned him to keep his special "gifts" as he called them a secret, he said that people hate and fear what they don't understand and if people found out what he could do he could be killed or taken away. Inosuke told Tanjiro to be careful and to not die a lame death.

Inosuke unaffected due to his mask had started slashing at the eyes, Tanjiro realized that the mask was preventing Enmu from gauging Inosuke's line of sight. But then the train engineer suddenly appeared, armed with a bone awl and he was about to stab Inosuke!. Tanjiro quickly jumped and took the blow to his stomach and then he knocked the engineer unconscious. Inosuke rushed to Tanjiro's side!.

"It's ok i can heal we need to decapitate the demon!" said Tanjiro, this left Inosuke confused, how was Tanjiro fine after getting stabed in the stomach?. Inosuke wanted to leave the engineer to die but Tanjiro wouldn't allow it, but then more tentacles emerged and grabbed both of Inosuke's blades!.

Realizing that they won't survive without decapitating the demon, Tanjiro and Inosuke began to move forward with the plan,as enormous tentacles formed sprouting many arms to grab the two Demon Slayers!,though they dodge and slash them away, and then the tentacles slammed down onto the train, forcing Tanjiro and Inosuke to leap onto the air for safety. Working in tandem, Tanjiro and Inosuke were able to slice the tentacles down to the bottom to slow their fall but the eyes returned!. Before the Blood Demon Art can activate, Inosuke slashed the eyes and leaped down to the neck bone, preventing Enmu from seeing his line of sight,and then with Beast Breathing, Fourth Fang: Slice 'n' Dice Inosuke was able to cut away the flesh and expose the neck bone.

"Father lend me your strength!" said Tanjiro as he was plummeting down, prying that his father will protect him, and then he said.

"Hinokami Kagura: Clear Blue Sky!"

And Tanjiro had successfully severed Enmu's neck bone, finally decapitating him. Enmu was now terrified, he feard his impending death!, the Lower Moon One tried to grab the passengers with his arms in a final effort to kill them but he was thwarted by the Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku, who cut his flesh away with his Flame Breathing, but this caused Enmu's flesh to detach from the train and the impact had forced the train to derail at neck breaking speed!.
