Chapter Thirty Nine: Things Are Gonna Get Real Flashy!!

After running across the rooftops, Tengen had finally reached the Kirimise section of Yoshiwara. He saw his wife Hinatsuru, unconscious and still bound by demonic sashes, he quickly cut the sashes away and gave Hinatsuru an antidote to help her recover. As Hinatsuru apologized, she stated that she had suspected Warabihime to be a demon, but then Warabihime caught on and became suspicious of Hinatsuru as well, so Hinatsuru drank poison to escape the Kyogoku House, only for a belt that had been gifted by Warabihime to prevent her from contacting Tengen. Having heard the sound of a battle, Hinatsuru quietly asked Tengen to leave her and battle the demon. Tengen in concern for his wife, asked Hinatsuru if she will be ok , the woman silently answered before apologizing for being of no use, but Tengen silenced her and instructed her to leave Yoshiwara as soon as the antidote worked, to which Hinatsuru complied.

Tengen leaped across the rooftops of the district, scanning for a demon. The Sound Hashira heard something and triangulated its position, he got close to the ground and detected the sound of an underground battle, so he unsheathed his blades which were two massive cleavers linked together with chains,and used Sound Breathing First Form: Roar to create a massive explosion. The shockwave was heard by Daki who was annoyed at another interference and asked Tanjiro how many of them were there, to which he refused to answer. The demoness offered to spare his life if he answered. " i'm not telling you anything, i won't betray my friends!" shouted Tanjiro defying the demon, and then another explosion rattled the district. Causing Daki to grow more annoyed. So she decided that she was going to kill that little Daken instead!.

Now facing Daki, Tanjiro decided to use the Hinokami Kagura. Remembering Kyojuro's words to "set your heart ablaze" Tanjiro swinged is sword at Daki's approaching obi and preformed Hinokami Kagura: Raging Sun. Daki became startled by the sudden change?!. Her enemy's skills had just sharpen, she also did not like the new sound that was emitting from him, was that the sound of his breathing technique?, was that how he was able to defeat Akaza?. Tanjiro charged towards the Upper Rank and used Hinokami Kagura: Flame Dance, narrowly missing her neck. Daki retaliated by stabing her obi through his throat, only for the Demon Slayer to suddenly vanish....she had lost track of him!. As he was using Hinokami Kagura: Fake Rainbow, Tanjiro sensed the Opening Thread at the demon's neck and used Hinokami Kagura: Fire Wheel to try and decapitate her, but Daki reacted in time and swated him away with her obi.

Seeing the red clad Demon Slayer on the ground, Daki rushed towards her enemy, dragging her obi to rip him to shreds. Tanjiro quickly used Recovery Breathing, building the strength to parry the attack and escape, Daki responded by sending multiple obi at him but Tanjiro countered with Moon Breathing Second Form: Pearl Flower Moongazing, Tanjiro preformed multiple cracent slashes at once, cutting the obi and canceling Daki's attack, this gave Tanjiro the motivation to continue fighting. While in the Ogimoto House, a girl was screaming about a monster boar inside the house, much to the bewilderment of her peers. Nezuko was honestly wondering what Inosuke was planning, that boar head was causing such a ruckus!. At that moment Inosuke erupted from the floorboards, scaring them, he then ripped a hole in the floor and told Nezuko to fallow him. The duo spotted a hold leading underground, but there was one problem, the opening was tiny, only big enough for their heads!.

But undaunted the two Demon Slayers had came up with creative solutions to their problem. Inosuke entered first, he simply dislocated his joints and slithered down the tunnel, while Nezuko used her Blood Demon Art, her explosive blood attack and her strength to force her way through the tunnel. Once inside, the Demon Slayers ended up inside a chamber littered with the bones of Daki's victims and covered in obi, they had found the missing people prisond inside the sashes. Nezuko and Inosuke realized that the people within the sashes were still alive, they had spotted Zenitsu's image on one of them, only for the two to be confronted by a sentient obi!, who attacked them for entering the chamber and Nezuko and Inosuke had to defend themselves from the incoming blows.

Nezuko and Inosuke slashed the obi and unknowingly freed the people with in them. Unable to deal with their razor-sharp intuition, team work and keen scenes, the obi halts for a moment and tries to plan something. It hears Daki's voice, instructing it to capture them for their appearance, adding that it may kill everyone but the ten most beautiful people, the obi then sped toward Nezuko, who used Water Breathing: Forth Form: Improved Explosive Striking Tide. Daki let out a scream of pain as her obi was burned......it hurt, it burned, like she was under the sun!. in retaliation the obi decided to to retake the people that Nezuko and Inosuke had freed, Making them realize that they need to battle it and protect its victims at the same time. Suddenly, knives came flying from behind them and stopped the sashes, thrown by Makio and Suma. The two women sliced up the sash, but the battle was set back slightly by Suma's cowardice and Makio snapping at her in annoyance. Learning that the demon's main body isn't near by, Nezuko and Inosuke realized that the battle might not end!. And then to everyones shock, Zenitsu appeared and used Thunder Breathing First Form: Thunder Clap and Flash Six fold and he sped around the chamber, slicing numerous sashes at once.

Infuriated by the appearance of other Demon Slayers, the obi remembered hearing two distinct noises, one of which was Zenitsu's attack, but it realized too late that the second sound is from above, as an explosion erupts from the top of the chamber's ceiling. But fortunately and too the relief of everyone inside, Tengen emerged from the cloud of dust and rushed around the chamber, cutting all the remaining sashes instantly, Tengen then apologized to his wives for being late and spoke of his relief at seeing them again. Makio recalled the past and how Tengen wasn't always like how he is now. " I want you three to only think about your lives. Above all else, your top priority is to come back to me. Life over accomplishing a mission!. What i'm saying is at odds with this occupation, but it doesn't matter, i'm allowing it!. The order that lives should go is flashy and clear-cut in my mind. First you three. Second law-abiding citizens. And finally me. As a Demon Slayer. It goes with out saying that I'll also protect that public leading their nonchalant drab lives.......but to be blunt in my flashy way, you three are more important to me. So don't die on me" said Tengen when he met his wives for the first time. This was a shock to Makio.As a Kunoichi among other shinobi, dying never scared her since she expected to be killed and she trained to give her life in battle, this was a shock to the other young women as well. Unable to believe Makio what Tengen just said, Makio talked with Hinatsuru who reassured that if Tengen is content with it then so is she.

Tengen approached Makio, Suma and Hinatsuru and playfully pated their heads, complimenting their work as "Flashy" and happy that "You are my wives all right" Makio teared up, and Suma loudly wailed upon realizing that Tengen does love them, he then spun his swords in a display of skill and proclaimed "Starting now, things are going to get really flashy!".
