Chapter Song - Kelsea Ballerini feat Halsey - "Who's the other girl"
____

6:40am

The chilly morning wind slipped through the slightly cracked bedroom window, rustling the curtains as the sun's first rays began to creep over the horizon. Mitsuri groaned softly as the sound of birds chirping outside pulled her from her slumber. She blinked up at the ceiling, stretching her arms when a cold breeze hit her, making her shiver. That's when she realized—she was still wearing her shirt from the night before, along with her black panties, and Obanai's arm was draped lazily over her stomach.

She glanced to her side and found Obanai, sleeping face down, shirtless, and his hair sprawled across the pillow. He was still in his jeans from the night before, evidence of how they had both collapsed into bed after their late-night escapades... without bothering to shower.

Mitsuri's groggy mind didn't fully register the situation until she happened to glance at the clock on the nightstand.

Her eyes widened. They were late.

"NO NO NO!" Mitsuri shouted, jolting up from the bed. She leaped over Obanai like an Olympic hurdler and sprinted to the bathroom.

Obanai shot up with a startled, confused grunt. "Wh-what?!" His hair was covering half his face as he squinted, trying to make sense of what was happening. He moved his hair and reached blindly for his phone on the nightstand and then froze as his heart sank. "SHIT!"

In a blur, he stumbled out of bed, wrestling off his jeans like they were trying to fight back. With half his mind still in dreamland, he grabbed fresh clothes and, not even bothering to look in the mirror, slicked his hair back and tied it into a messy bun that looked like a bird's nest had crash-landed on his head. "We're gonna be so late!" he muttered under his breath, his heart racing.

Mitsuri, meanwhile, was doing what could only be described as the world's fastest bird bath in the shower. She scrubbed her face and body quickly before flying back into the bedroom, her wet hair slapping against her face. She dug through her bags, yanking out clothes at lightning speed. "I know, I know! I forgot to set the alarm!" she cried, pulling on a fresh outfit as quickly as humanly possible, hopping into her pants while simultaneously trying to fix her hair.

"I don't even have time to find my belt," Obanai grumbled, hopping around the room trying to pull on his shoes. He ended up just tightening the waistband of his pants with one of his hair ties.

Mitsuri laughed despite the chaos, frantically tying her hair into a messy braid.

"I'll take the car this time—hopefully we find parking, because if not, I swear we're walking in five miles late!" Obanai said as he put on his oversize grey sweater. "If there's no parking, I'm leaving the car in the middle of the road. They can tow it for all I care!"

Mitsuri giggled, tossing the remains of their scattered clothes into a pile, and they both raced out of the door, leaving the room in complete disarray. As they ran down the hallway, Obanai glanced over at Mitsuri, a smirk creeping across his face.

"You know," he teased, "for someone who says they're always on time, you sure know how to miss alarms."

Mitsuri gasped dramatically, slapping him on the arm as they bolted toward the car. "Don't you dare blame me—you were the one distracting me last night!" She teased back.

Obanai raised an eyebrow with a sly grin, not denying anything. "Well, I didn't hear you complaining."

As they scrambled into the car, breathless and laughing, Obanai fired up the engine, screeching out of the driveway. "Let's just hope we don't get pulled over. I don't have time to explain why we smell like this!"
