Same Day

Kanae quietly knocked on Mitsuri's door before stepping inside, her face soft with concern. Mitsuri was curled up in bed, her pink hair spilling across the pillow, her eyes puffy from crying.

"Hey, love," Kanae said gently, sitting on the edge of the bed. "How are you holding up?"

Mitsuri sniffled and sat up, wiping her eyes with the back of her hand. "I'm okay... just tired."

"Yeah," Kanae said, squeezing her hand. "Breakups are tough, especially when you still care about the person. But you're strong, Mitsuri. And you're not alone in this."

Mitsuri nodded, her lips trembling. "I miss him, Kanae, but at the same time, I'm so mad... it still hurts."

Kanae offered her a soft smile. "Of course it does. But you're more than just this heartache, Mitsuri. And you deserve to feel happy again, not because of him, but for yourself. Which is why I have an idea to lift your spirits."

Mitsuri looked at her, curiosity sparking in her eyes. "What kind of idea?"

"How about we get out of this room, put on something cute, head to the Halloween store, and pick out some fun costumes for that party I reserved?" Kanae wiggled her eyebrows. "It'll be a blast! I'll even treat you to lunch."

Mitsuri blinked, the faintest glimmer of interest in her eyes. "Halloween costumes?"

"Yes! Trust me, a little fun will help take your mind off things." Kanae gave her an encouraging nudge. "Plus, we already have a theme—'Mean Girls!' I'm going as the bunny, Shinobu's the cat, and you... are going to be the cutest mouse ever!"

Mitsuri giggled despite herself. "A mouse?"

Kanae nodded enthusiastically. "You know the line—'I'm a mouse, duh!' You'll be adorable. Come on, you love Halloween. Let's get you something sexy to wear and maybe drive him crazy. Show him what he's missing."

Mitsuri's smile widened, and she finally gave in. "Alright... a little fun could help, I guess."

"That's the spirit!" Kanae cheered, pulling her up from the bed. "Let's go grab the cutest costumes ever."

Later, in the Halloween store, they roamed the aisles, giggling and trying on different accessories. Kanae already had her fluffy white bunny ears and tail, and she helped Mitsuri find a cute mouse headband with matching gray ears and a tiny pink bow.

"You are the cutest mouse ever," Kanae said, posing with her bunny ears in the mirror. "Shinobu's going to be the sassiest cat."

Mitsuri laughed, twirling in front of the mirror. "I do love it. And it's fun to dress up for something silly." Kanae recorded Mitsuri twirling and secretly posted it on her story with the caption "Mouse, duh!" hoping Obanai would view it.

"That's what Halloween is all about," Kanae said, her grin wide. Then, with a sly look, she added, "Oh, and I may have invited a special guest to the party."

Mitsuri froze, her eyes widening. "Wait... who?"

Kanae's grin grew even wider. "Obanai."

Mitsuri's heart skipped a beat. "You... you invited him?"

"I did." Kanae's voice softened, full of understanding. "I think you two need to talk. I know things have been rough, but I've seen the way you both still care about each other. Maybe this party will be the perfect time to start mending things."

Mitsuri's emotions swirled inside her, but a small part of her felt... hopeful. "Do you really think so?"

Kanae nodded, her eyes gentle. "I do. And even if it's just for closure, you deserve to hear each other out."

Mitsuri's cheeks flushed, but she smiled shyly. "Maybe you're right. I miss him... a lot."

"Then let's make sure you're feeling confident and looking amazing." Kanae beamed, adjusting Mitsuri's mouse ears playfully. "Between you, me, and Shinobu, this is going to be a night to remember."

Mitsuri laughed, the weight on her heart lifting just a little. With her friends by her side and the thought of seeing Obanai again, maybe—just maybe—things would start to turn around.

As the girls stepped out of the store with their purchases, Kanae checked her story to see who had viewed it, and as expected, Obanai had noticed it. "Alright now, time for the club," she thought to herself.
